School walking bus- has anyone set one up?

I'd love to set one up locally and have contacted the head oour school, who has asked me to come in for a chat as it's something they've been considering.

Does anybody have any tips, advice or useful links so I can go in armed with imperative information?

Many thanks!

Your local council should have a road safety officer or School Travel officer who will have experience of walking buses, and can point you in the direction of any other local schools who have one, and offer resources and support. Have a look on their website.

some useful guidance here
and here

Walking buses are heavily reliant on parent volunteers, so I expect this will be your biggest hurdle.

Thanks. I've contacted the school and the council rep so hopefully we can get something in place.

I suspected that the biggest hurdle would be parents, especially as I've found out they all have to be CRB checked and trained, which I suspect might put some people off.

I've managed to print a wad of information to take with me but I would appreciate any words of wisdom from anybody with a 'been there, done that' t shirt
