we used to go sailing in the bay of islands, in the north of NZ. Soooooooooo cool, used to just sail about for a week or two, seeing lots of dolphins and stopping on little islands to sit in the sun.

My Dad was a great one for seeing lots of places, so I've been lucky and grown up with a sense of adventure and a good sense of the british isles and various parts of Spain and their Islands!!
(he only started the really serious and expensive adventuring once I'd left home!!)

France and Pembrokeshire. Lovely! Cannot believe now that at the age of 10, I used to go and play with real bows and arrows in the woods, shooting them into bales of hay...

Or that when I went on a French exchange when I was 12, we were allowed off in pairs round Paris for the afternoon!

Lots and lots of summers spent battling wasps in tents on various French campsites. Also quite a few in Portugal and Majorca. When we were really little we used to go to Knole House in Swanage but it's gone to the dogs a bit since then!

Spent a fair few holidays in Cornwall. We would either go down on the night train, sleeping in a compartment on the sofas. Or we'd go in the car and sleep in the car - dad would pull over in a lay by for a couple of hours or so to nap. WE either stayed in a caravan, or more often we'd hire out a house/cottage for a week or so.

Also went to Isle of Man - remember that vaguely as qas quite young.

French campsites and cornwall at Christmas or easter. Once I was 8 or 9 I went to a summer camp so no summer 'family' holidays. We went walking at easter instead - derbyshire and places like that.

Funny enough we now do france and cornwall with our kids, same places too (dh did cornwall so it was easy )

self catering cottage in Pembrokeshire every whit week and camping in France in the summer. Really enjoyed it, but my mum loathed the camping with a passion. I was so shocked the first time she told me - I loved our holidays and I felt really sad that she had found them such a burden
