When cleaning in the bathroom this morning, a tap came off in my hand, with water going everywhere. My dp had to stem the flow with towels, but we had quite a flood before the problem was sorted out. The water then went through the floor into the kitchen celiling below. When would it be safe to switch the light on - or should I get an electrician in? This has never happened to me before but do know that bathroom floods aren't uncommon

we had this from the flat upstairs...
i did get an electrician to look at it, but to be honest all he did was take the plastic cover off and say "looks dry"
LOL

I did leave it a day to dry out before having the light on though!

It's safe when it's completely dry.

Water drips along cables etc. into ceiling roses etc.

Best to wait as long as you can really. Maybe put a table light in the kitchen so you have light in the interim.

The fuse / breaker should take care of any emergency type shorts though.
