why do i keep getting emails from lloyds, abbey national etc saying they need to evrify my account or take security measures etc when i don't have accounts with any of these people and never have had and how have they got my email address and who do they think i am?
and why do i get emails from BT billing dept when i have never been with BT and saying they ahdnt received my payment as it had bounced and i will lose my service if not paid promptly?
They are just emails sent out to as many people as possible... by criminals. They hope you will click on the links in them and either contract a computer virus, download some spyware/keyloggers or fill in your actual account details and passwords and enable them to access your money using them.
Ignore anything like that, don't open it EVER and delete it straight away.
If there is ever one you think might be genuine, delete it anyway and visit the company's website directly e.g. www.mybank.com, go through your normal secure login and anything they want to tell you should be there as well.
