ohh, busy girls! i watched a dvd which was brill, i am so pleased that i can concentrate on a film and not fall asleep.

penthe, just choose somebody who loves your dd and both of you will be fine, i agree, no housework though, i would rather she bonds with dd than scrub the floor

we bought a couple of things here when we were rich i lover their stuff and it changes very often, basically hugely expensive 2nd hand. Damon i would wait until dd has a state school place and then splash the fees on a desk for you!

i might copy your primary teaching idea, is there a course one needs to do? i had a rough idea of offering italian to ds' school, do it as a after school club, and see if the experience would then get me somewhere. Boh. Sometimes funding can be found for after school clubs.

Gotcha...Auguri Mamme......

gio71 Sun 10-May-09 09:50:19

i think its a good idea Pippi re teaching. Teaching has to be the best job re fitting round your kids as well. And as soon as you sign up to course, buy a desk to celebrate smile.
penthe totally sympathise re separation issues. I think a nanny will be easier in a way than nursery though, at least you know it'll be one on one attention I guess, no? Apart from ds's trips out in the morning with childminder I havent had to really face the separation issue yet. Hated that at the start now, counted minutes til he was back. Now I rather enjoy the peace to drink cups of tea and work.... Ds is total mammone as well.
Am looking around at holidays and very angry that recession hasn't bought down price of holiday houses in Toscana down to the price I am looking at!! Am debating bungalows in a campeggio now but am scared will hate it. Never been to a campeggio before, anyone got experience of it. Am scared will be like Butlins in the sun and neither me or dp are keen on idea of entertainment laid on and "crazy" activities.

McC I have been a fan of castle and gibson for ages. When I was poor I used to go to the shop in islington and say 'one day'...
it's a shame the shop is closed as it's not quite the same looking at furniture on the net. I check their website every week. there's nothing at the moment. and these things I like are always far too expensive. What did you buy from there?????? Oh I do want to come and see your place now!

DH is on DIY mode today. he even bought himself one of these belt leather tool pouches. I' still laughing. He wanted to go to B&Q wearing it hmm. what a child grin!

McC I will forward the email I got re teaching italian.

no idea re camping I'm afraid gio.

DamonBradleylovesPippi Sun 10-May-09 10:33:45

actually I wanted to find places that sell similar stuff the them.

TheMysticMasseuse Sun 10-May-09 13:48:45

hey everyone well done on the new thread

i have lost the plot a bit as usual but wanted to say Penthe, don't stress too much about going back to work, i am sure you will be fine. actually i must be the only person in the world who was glad she went back to work (after dd1 i couldn't wait, after dd2 it was hard and still is at times but i was sure it is the right thing to do). i have a nanny (different one now) and i think if you find one you like and trust it's guilt free and actually i was so relieved not to have to go to all the toddler/music/one o clock clubs type places!!! meant on my days at home i could just relax with dd and do not much

a word of caution about working in the evenings etc- i did that in the beginning (worked 3 and a half days and had nanny only 3 days, the half day i did when dd1 napped or in the evenings) and i found it hell... i literally never ever had a moment to myself, the second she fell asleep i logged on, and often when she woke up i was still in the middle of something important and i'd get really stressed out. i think you can do a bit (like emails etc) but be easy on yourself, get as much childcare as you can/need otherwise you'll just end up killing yourself. working with a baby sitting on the foor playing is still possible, although not ideal, but with a toddler it is impossible!

sorry didn't mean to sound so negative. in fact i think you are a lot more chilled/organised than me, plus of course your job is totally different!

pippi are you going to train to become a teacher? a friend of mine is doing that too. i think it's a great idea.

i found out that there is a primary school in the neighboring borough where they do italian as a foreign language, we'd be way down the priority list but i am still going to try for it, how cool would it be? esp since dd1's italian is truly shocking "mamma ho bevato un po' del latte perche' se no e' molto troppo nel bicchiere" being today's gem blush

Gio we found the same when loking at beach places in June - nothing was going down at all . I have a friend who takes a bungalow in a camping and says its fine as you can join in as much or as little as you want. Her daughter loves it and the bungalows are very nice - mnd you this is up in the Veneto they take one for 2 months I believe then they get some mega discount. We did look at one but the prices were not that much cheaper as you had to add in pax per day charge and lots of little extras. We ended up witha s/C on the beach with a pool but for 2 weeks not a month as it would just bet too much.
Dh remembered mothers day and I am very pleased with im ok so it was chocolates and I am on a diet but its the thought. DD sang Happy birthday well dh said it is the festa ella mamma !!!
Penthe are we talking hairy as well as big ?
A desk - I would be happy just with a corner for me . My dream is a small room for me where I could put up the sewing machine and leave it without having to worry about dd . Have a computer and a desk and 1 comfy chair. My books on shelves oh and to have it sound proofed so I can't hear the noise !!!

MM 'actually i must be the only person in the world who was glad she went back to work (after dd1 i couldn't wait, after dd2 it was hard and still is at times but i was sure it is the right thing to do). i have a nanny (different one now) and i think if you find one you like and trust it's guilt free and actually i was so relieved not to have to go to all the toddler/music/one o clock clubs type places!!! meant on my days at home i could just relax with dd and do not much' that is me after dd1 and possibly the rest if I had a job.

rosa re the room - hat's what I'm planning - reality will prob transform it into a playroom. NOOOOOO

MM dd's italian is to that standard as well: 'Mammaaa vieno' 'si l'ho aprito' ot 'tu sai' at the beginning of each sentence.

Bucharest Sun 10-May-09 15:42:39

Hello everyone- I promised myself I'd come back when you started a new thread as I couldn't catch up with the old one, so here I am....Hope you are all well and enjoying (finally) the sun....
I think there are a few namechanges I need to get used to?
Dd says "bevere" as the infinitive of bere all the time...think because she learnt bevuto before bevo....
I have to make a sodding piece of cake costume for recita finale and have just been on phone to my Mum (she being rather more handy with a needle than me...I'm of the school of thought, that if a button drops off I buy a new shirt) We're making 2 outfis though, in case my Mums gets lost in the post....My friend here (who went to pattern cutting school or some such) is helping me with outfit 2.....

DamonBradleylovesPippi Sun 10-May-09 15:58:37

yea 'bevere' is a favourite here too.

Rosa Sun 10-May-09 19:25:47

Bucharest Welcome back ....Wondered what you were up to .You never did tell me your connection with Venice !
DD1 cosa serve questo per fare ? We have had a couple of mixed ital english words as well- Mamma I am going to sit on the Pank ( bench / plank of wood !)
Right off to put away teh ironing so much for a restful mothers day I was plannig an afternoonon the sofa witha book - pity Minirosa would not collaborate !

TheMysticMasseuse Sun 10-May-09 22:12:06

LOL LOL at the Pank Rosa!

BUcharest i used to be called "prima dell'alba"...

Camomilla Sun 10-May-09 22:50:26

hi everyone! buona festa della mamma

Bucharest, I was the girasole..

Pippi, great idea, I filled out all the forms 3 years ago, but never started the course as DP could never guarantee to be home to look after ds by the time it started... maybe now that he's at home.

lol at pank! DS usual thing is "io vuole", and other similar stuff, usually translating eng to it word for word.., and getting mixed up like cold=caldo. Hoping that 4 wks in italy will help.

penthe, it wasn't too bad going back to work after DS as it was only 2 days a week and DP looked after him. then DS went to nursery 2 am a week when he was nearly 2 - he cried to begin with, but the staff were wonderful. and then never wanted to leave... still can't believe though that now DD is 8 mo, with DS I would have been back at work 2.5 months...

DamonBradleylovesPippi Mon 11-May-09 10:51:43

horrible night as dd2 wasn't well - crying non stop for hours and not breathing properly. had to take her to A&E. she's fine - took her to gp as well and apparently she's got nothing.

dd1 says 'io lo piace' ...

Penthesileia Mon 11-May-09 11:01:10

Oh Pippi! What a nightmare. Glad to hear that there is nothing the matter. How is she now? You must be exhausted. sad
