yes they do - you need to buy a plot of land and build your own

You sometime sget a larger garden if you manage to buy a corner property. That happened in my parents case - although that was 12 years ago. I think they tend to cram even more houses onto building plots now.

Now, even though the title said it was boring I just had to open it. Ks, I really don't think you are ever going to buy anything ever anywhere!

Had you thought of buying a caravan, ks? Then you could just move on when you got tired of a place.

How did you lose a sealed bid when yours was highest? How does that work?

We bought a new house and DP looked at plans for estate then picked our style house with the biggest garden!! Our is a Semi and next doors isn't bad but some of them really do have postage stamp sized ones.

You would fare better if you go to an estate when it is just beginning and pick off plan like we did!!!

I love my 'new' house its so maintenance free all our money this year has gone on nice things for it. I also got to pick my own kitchen, tiles and all three bathrooms tiles etc which means it is all to my taste!

of course it does depend on where you are looking this time. There are some new build country houses with big gardens.......

tatt Fri 22-Apr-05 13:59:56

come on - we must be able to find ks a house between us. What do you actually need, what's the budget, what do you really want?

Ever considered one of those TV shows where they find you property???????

Some of those estates with big gates have houses with biggish gardens, I'm sure.

Oh go on, be on Grand Designs, that would be great. Actually, I would dearly love to see you take on Phil and Kirsty and give them a run for their money

NomDePlume Fri 22-Apr-05 14:03:43

Ours has a decent garden and a good green outlook to the back (on the very edge of estate)

<snurk> You would end up having to buy a house you didn't like out of sheer embarrassment

tatt Fri 22-Apr-05 14:09:03

so post a picture of the house, explain why you like it and maybe we'll find you something just like it. I've seen a few of your property posts but the power of mumsnet ought to be able to manage even you

Why thank you (I know I shouldn't have, it's another popularity contest thing isn't it really)
