ds1 started calling my mum gogo when he was about 18 months old. a few years later we were listening to the radio and it turned out this was the zulu word for grandmother!

DS1 says Nanny and Grandad for my Mum and Dad and Nanny x and Grandad y for dh's parents as he doesn't see them often.

DS2 says Nanny and Laa Laa cos he can't quite say Grandad yet!

No way did JT want to be gran or granny!

Mine call them grandma and grandad which is what I called my grandparents, but I regret not making a conscious decision to change grandad to grandpa as I (and my father) prefer it.

Grandpa and Grandpa (my surname) and Grandpa and Grandpa (dh surname). For some reason, ds1 at 3 1/2 refuses to accept difference between grandMa and grandPa - so seems foolish to try adding grandda's or similar yet! Grandma's find it very amusing!

Dp's are granny and granddad. My mum is grandma and she wants my step father (who is for all intents and purposes my dad) to be called grandpa mos. MOS stands for miserable old sod! Have to admit it will be funny in years to come but I'm not that sold on the idea!

My ds named his himself

My mum is Gran Darling (surname)
My dad is Grandad Big (he's tall!)

Dh mum is Gran Slupek (surname)
Dh dad is Grandad Strong (ds thinks he's strong!)

Not sure if dd will follow suit. Will have to wait and see.

My kids call them Nanny X and Grandad X
They have a great nan they call Nanny G and their other great nan is called Nanny Pepe (after a dog she had) When the dog passed away a couple of years ago, my DD told her Nan that she would have to call her Nanny No Pepe now! We all burst out laughing!
