Here is the scenario....
a)chance to go to swanky wedding do (without dh)

b)invite came - not from bridal party - but from sister. (bride was previous pal to me- but moved on to sister)
c) not getting on too well with sister at the moment (ever??)
d)haven't seen bride for xxxx years.
e)none too friendly with bride because of 'history' (not a loyal pal)

so... would you say.. sod it, and enjoy the freebie nosh etc.... or... say sod it, it's not for me?

Tonight's mumsnet quandry......!!!!!

I would say sod it not for me as even though you have freebie nosh what about outfit, present. Still going to be expensive. I also wouldn't want to go without dh either.

So no, no and no

Too many bad vibes by the sound of it! Might take away your appetite.

nah - don't go - but you could tell dh you are and then go out and indulge yourself

not worth it and you might be too uncomfortable at the whole thing unless you have other friends who are going too.

Or you could recycle an outfit, go halves on a cheap pressie with someone and go and drain the free bar with a mate!!

Tough one!!

reckon you have all persuaded me.. (well I didn't need much really)...

This 'pal' was someone who basically let me down years ago, when we were young - and I got kicked out of a shared rental...she stayed put...
If I had been in the other position I would have shown some solidarity, and left with her- as up until then we had always found places together IFKWIM.

So.. even though it was er 20 years ago.. tis still fresh, and her wedding party is probably not a good time to bring it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks all.
