Anyones child ever been to a Royal Academy of Dance summer school ??

Dd1 does clasical ballet once a week with a rada teacher and has asked if she can go to this.

I would love her to go, only prob is that from what i can see on the website, it is £180 , for the 4 days.

Just wondered if anyones child had been and if they felt it was worth the money.

Wow that is a lot of money! But if she is good enough and you can possibly afford it, it would surely be a wonderful experience for her, wouldn't it?

God yeah it would be great, but i would really struggle to get the money and feel awfulk that the others wern't getting anything.

You don't have to be at a certain level, any one can go i think.

She has just started grade1 and i think is beginning to see that she could take this really far. She asked about schools where you dance every day the other day.

I would love it for her but there is no way i am ever gonna be able to pay for that.

I think that is a hell of a lot of money for 4 days. I assume it is residential for that price, has she ever been away from home that long ?

She's not that old is she, as I recall. If she is really committed to it in a few years' time perhaps, but until you see her having a real future in it (and then it might give you time to save up)think it is too much.

Could you ask the teacher if there are special rates for the less well off? Also, you shouldn't see it as giving her something and depriving your other children or an equal treat. Their time will come another year.

Nope it isn't residential i don't think, some of them are but not that one i recall.

I think you are right, it is too much for 4 days. Just needed some sense knocking into me.

I have explained to her that it is alot of money and that i already spend alot on her ballet stuff anyway, and never not get her what she need for her lessons, so hopefully she will realise i am not being mean..............................one day, whilst in therapy

The only discounts are for if you have more than one child doing it.

I do feel guilty though cos dd2 wants to do something but doesn't know what, and i haven't encouraged it cos i haven't the money.

Dd1 started ballet at age 4 and was good so i just always made sure i had the money. Am not boasting, but she is god at it and so i want to make sure she can carry on.
