Please, can anyone tell me how to cope with horrible comments about my weight (10 years ago I was a model) now I've put on weight even though I am trying to lose weight I find the insensitive comments from strangers and thin women hard to cope with. Any comments would be appreciated

Just say to them "I may be fat but i can loose weight, you're always gonna be ugly" no really I know its not what you want to hear but try to ignore them,I am about 2 stone overweight but you would think it was a crime to hear what some people say.It is upsetting but just grit your teeth and do what you can.

Chiccadum ... that's awful ... can you tell people that they are being rude and hurtful?
I am sorry that you are being made to feel bad ... chin up and don't let the bs get you down!

Chiccadum, it is awful but as Ghosty says "Don't let them get at you". Like you I used to be v. slim (in my 20s) but I put a lot of weight on in my 30s. Fortunately I lost a lot due to morning sickness (think this should be renamed 24-hour-a-day sickness btw) but the weight is creeping back on again. I get a lot of comments mostly from my family as there is a lot of obesity on my father's side. Trouble is it makes me more depressed and it's a viscious circle. Can you join forces with a friend in similar circumstances; I have someone I know well who can give me a morale boost and really understands. I can't understand why people get so hyper about it; as Leander says it's not a crime. As long as the weight is not affecting our health does it matter?
