Hi all,
I'm in desperate need of a kids' step that they use to wash their hands in the sink. Does anyone know where I can buy one?
Many thanks

Robbie,
Ikea do one in cheap and cheerful plastic with a useful rubber-dotted, slightly-non-slip top and two handle holes at the sides. It's about 8 inches high, I'd guess. (I'm at work, so can't measure it for you). Useful for young children, but not high enough for very tiny toddlers to reach the wash basin etc. Doesn't stop my 20 month-old from dragging it everywhere though. I've also seen less 'designed' plastic steps at pound shops.

We got ours from mothercare, they are 5 inches/13 cm tall about £4.99. We've also got one of those from ikea but our one it is slightly smaller than the mothercare ones, unless the ones they do now are bigger.

They also use them for getting on and off the toilet.

I'll second Ikea - we got one for upstairs and one for downstairs.

Just this week our 4yo told me we should have packed the steps when we came to Australia!

God if only Ikea had a website - don't know about you lot but thought of driving my two round the north circular brings me out in a cold sweat! and husband, probably quite rightly, has absolutely embargoed weekend trips there.
many thanks for your suggestions anyway

Oops sorry. Ikea was always my worst nightmare when I lived in London - busy and always out of stock of whatever you wanted.

When on mat leave, I found Croydon was great (completely empty) at 10am on Monday, if that helps!

We got one from the local John Lewis branch - a bit more expensive than Ikea though.

We got ours from Ikea too. It was ridiculously cheap £2 or something. My husband hates Ikea. He thinks its a cult! The folk in red aertex's. I try and go after lunch when my 18 month old has a nap. It is a nightmare but you have to go in the right frame of mind. I'm not sure what that is exactly. Ready to abandon the trip at any time, I think. I have a friend who has had lunch and supper with her kids there. My son thinks the children's area is a play group and whenever I say we're going to a playground, he asks hopefully 'the one with the fire-engine?' (the lorry in the playground). I wish they had a home shopping catalogue/website shop too!

I liked our Ikea one to begin with but in a short time the rubber feet designed to prevent skidding seem to have worn smooth. It might as well be on casters now...This might happen with all brands of course and at least it is only £2 wasted...

Well, we did it. Went to Ikea and bought our steps - one each for my two. Was quite hairy at times, but I bribed them with promise of merry-go-round at the end and about 7 bags of crisps. Of course when it came to it, one wanted to go on the merry-go-round while the other screamed to go back to the car, so I went and deposited one in car, left her locked and strapped in with another bag of crisps and took the other for a quick spin(imagine crossing a road with 2 2 year olds and 2 bags of Ikea goodies - they don't let you take trolleys to the car. I held one, who held the other's hand. I was so proud of them for helping me out - I think they knew I was close to melt-down!). Steps are working great but really is a pity you can't buy them off a website! We won't be heading back in a hurry.
