dd has woken for the past 3 nights and said she is hearing someone in her room.

I dismissed her and said it was the hamster downstairs in the playroom (right under her bedroom)

Dh was getting dd dressed this morning and he stopped and said "whats that noise ?"

I've just come home and everyone is out....the noise is either in the ceiling space or in the chimney, but seems to be moving over my head.

It sounds like a really large animal ARRRRRRRRRRRRGHH!!!!

We've had mice befor, didn't sound like this.

Squirrel? Do you have trees near your house?

Squirrels?

I get noises right above my bed like something heavy tramping about. If I wake DH to listen, they stop.

I'm thinking mine might be birds getting under the eaves.

could be rats, bats, birds, mice ...
or you could ask a medium to visit and see if someone is trying to get your attention ...

Squirrels or birds. Or rats. Tell the local council you think it's rats and they will come and deal with it FOC.

Probably mice. We had sounds above the bedroom and in the wall, which I was convinced must have been a bear, at least, to judge by the volume. Rentokil came and said, 'Nah, it's mice. Noisy blighters, mice.' They put two bait boxes down and that was the end of the problem.

Probably mice.

Last time we heard a weird noise we spent ages trying to locate it. We were really worried as it was a quiet hissing sound that sounded like a water leak, faulty radiator or something.

It turned out to be DS's Spiderman walkie-talkie, hidden away in a bag, that hadn't been switched off properly
