Can you help?

I need all things associated with Christmas lunch;

Food
Decorations
Presents
Crackers
Table cloths

etc, etc, etc, etc

I also need volunteers to help with transport, serving, entertainment, kitchen help etc. If you are in the York area and feel that you can help then please let me know

Thank you

Lovely idea, silkcutmama
Am no-where local, but have you tried a local supermarket? They may be able to donate stuff, depending on how your charity status...

Ring round all the local businesses. Tell them what you are doing and ask if they will provide anything. Go through yellow pages, big and small companies. Are you doing it through a church or community centre? Can you promise them a mention in the newsletter or a poster afterwards saying thanks for what they did?

I know someone who did this and managed to get presents, decorations, food etc (nearly all of it) donated by companies.

If you have a local radio station ask them if they will do a free advert for you for volunteers or donations.

Main thing to is not to be afraid to ask, and to chase up if you are promised it and it doesn't turn up.

Have put together letter for local shops etc
Just thought there might be someone local on here who may be able to offer some support/help

These people are all mentally unwell or elderly and very lonely

I also thought there may be a wonderfully generous benefactor who may wish to donate a couple of boxes of crackers!!

All wil be named in any advertising or associated publicity

Thanks all

Is there no-one in York?

Is there no-one who works for a Company that could make a donation?

A box of crackers?
A turkey?
A bag of potatoes?
A box of mince pies?

RL - not too bad. Your Christmas lunch sounds absolutely lovely, I hope it goes really well.
