Arggggggh gloss paint on carpet-what do I do?

I am really cross with myself.I've just painted very carefully around the skirting boards, not getting a speck of paint on the carpet-then stood up & promptly dropped the brush.I now have 2 patches of grey gloss paint on a cream carpet. Can anyone give me any tips on how to get it out?We are about to put the house on the market so it couldn't have happened at a worse time.To make things worse it is one of those basket weave type of carpets.

I use baby oil to clean it up, works better than soap and water as gloss paint is oil based. There is probably a much better way to do it though!

good luck mirage, out of curiosity let us know how you get on

dont be too annoyed with yourself, accidents happen and if it doesnt come off, with any luck any buyers viewing your house will not notice it

Move the furniture round a bit and buy a rug.

We sold our flat even though the bedroom carpet had a big blob of yellow paint on it. It was tastefully disguised as a futon.

Thanks for all the advice.I tried white spirit & baby oil & the marks have completely gone.Phew!!!

This house is like the Forth Bridge-you finish at one end & something crops up at the beginning again.

Might go & try white spirit & baby oil on all the other various blobs of paint that I have splattered about in the past few years now.

Hi, any ideas how to get white gloss paint off dark grey carpet? I don’t have spirit or baby oil and I’m isolating and have recently painted my bedroom and I have way too many marks on the carpet, thanks.
