Not sure about Usborne as we'd have to really find someone willing to make that kind of commitment to run it and our PTA isn't exacly brim full of volunteers.

Yes they're the right ones. If you start early enough you could have a school competition to design the labels - I just got my arty dd to do one.

Re Phoenix - could you get one of the traders to do a stall and donate all most of the profits?

Get the Baker Ross catalogue too as there are loads of ideas in there.

Plum Pudding Company is good too.....we do that.

Apart from the fair, look at www.bag2school.com as they come and take your jumble inc bedding and towels and give you the money for it and it is soooo much easier than a jumble sale.

We also do film night where the kids pay £2.50 and get a DVD on the interactive whiteboards, eat popcorn and have juice and it makes a packet!!

We will be doing more film nights towards Xmas so that parents can do Xmas shopping and get childcare til 5.30pm for £2.50!

Pheonix: Yes, we've sold tables to traders before so they pay for their table and then keep their profits. We're trying to think of stuff in addition to this which we can run for ourselves. Except we can't think of many things

We've had a film night organised by an external company before. I did wonder whether showing DVDs is strictly legal (I think it isn't but they watch them in class sometimes so how do they get round it?).

Yes you do have to sort out the license which costs about £100 for the year - we split the cost with the afterschool club.

We make about £350 each film. Tis brilliant and for not much effort. Most of the effort is in sorting the money and doing a list of the children for the school.

Not for the fair obviously, but could you arrange bag packing at a supermarket? It is my most loathed activity, but we made nearly £2000 for our nursery last year in one day
