Between £10 and £15? Used to send books but I don't think they were appreciated. Guinness Book of Records went down well at Christmas but I'm stuck for this birthday.

Don't know her very well (live too far away) but she seems quite trendy (but then most teenagers do to me - sign of age I guess!)

My niece is 14, and lives in Australia so I always have this problem.

This year I got her a silver necklace from Essential, seems the right age group to me, and apparently she adored it!

It's a jewellery shop, don't know where you are but the ones I know are Bournemouth and Reading, I'm sure they're all over the UK!

It's a bit like Accessorize but with a lot of silver jewellery and aimed at younger people.

I remember shopping there when I was a teen (and when I was pre-teen and trying to be cool!)

The silver's a pretty good price, her necklace was 14.99 and really lovely. They sell some other stuff too, Storm and Fossil watches (got dp a fossil watch which he loves!)

They are a hard age to buy for, trends seem to go in and out so fast, something which is cool one week can be seriously uncool the next, I tend to go for jewellery aswell for DP's little sister who is at that adolescent stage, although anything I buy her would be considered cool, as to her I am apparently the height of coolness!?! follows me round constantly and agrees with everything I say! She's chosen a very bad role model!

What about some nice slippers? If you go on www.asos.com they have some white and pink fluffy slippers for £8 (in sale from £15). The only thing is, they're the playboy make so have small pb bunnies on the front, but my neice (12) had them off me for Xmas and she loved them (and was oblivious to pb connection).
Failing that, some lovely posh smellies - it'll make her feel more grown up than getting say Boots or Body Shop would. there's a site called cosmeticsdirect.com which sell that kind of stuff. Hope that helps.

Cool stationary (all matching bits) from paperchase went down well with my SIL who's 14. Plus lightweight so easy to post. Either that or body/lip gloss stuff. Having said that I bought her some body spray and stuff from natural collection once and she commented that it smelt a bit like her cerruti. Was very shocked as she was only 12 at the time!

Lush, is lovely, all the home made smellies bath bombs and fizzers and shampoos and soaps etc, smell gorgeous and they send and deliver safely. My god-daughter loved her parcel. (same age).

Thank you all. I hadn't considered jewellery or smellies - I was such an ungirly teen!

I like the idea of posh stuff. I will send DH off to Lush tomorrow and he can choose (his neice).

Thanks again!

I bought my 12yo niece a set of makeup - lots of different eye shadows and blushers, etc. You can get a range of them from Argos, depending on how much you want to spend.

Lush do vouchers which go down very well IME. You could ask her mum if there is a DVD or CD she really wants and get that.
