WAiting for manager of ASDA to call me back I am FURIOUS about this womans attitude towards kids.

In ASDA this afternoon with my 6 year old ds. As I walked down a particular aisle there was another mum with a small child who was screaming about something. The member of staff rather loudly grunted 'When do they go back to school'

Ds and I stoped to look at packed lunch boxes and stuff - the department this woman was shelf stacking. As we were looking ds was asking countless random questions as only 6 year old can and I was answering. She kept leaning accross us to stack which annoyed me. Then as were were walking off she grunted 'For Gods sake just go away'

It was clearly at us there was noone else on the asile at teh time.

I was so cross I challenged her saying 'was that comment directed at my son and I?'

To which she said 'No, I was talking to a fly'

I asked for the manager but he was in a meeting so he is calling me.

I am very very cross. And that is not like me.

He just called me.

He says next time I am in the store I should ask for him so he can update me face to face on what happenned.

Nice of him to assume I'll be shopping there again

What a charming lady she sounds! Odd response from the manager, are you planning a return visit soon?!

The manager's response has astounded me tbh. If you did go back, what is the likelihood of him being there? Hmm

On reflection I a astounded. Its going from bad to worse. I spend about £100 a week in this store and have done for years, someone tells me to GO AWAY and I ahve to go into the store to see what he is dping about it?

I can feel an email to head office coming on here.

Go back to the store?

Or should I ring head office?

Thinking about it he was very nice on the phoen but didn't apologise, just said he needed to investigate.

I even told him I was so cross I left my shopping and went to Morrissons.

He still expects me to pop into the store to see him

Definitely contact Head Office...or alternatively ring the Manager back - since you acknowledge that he was pleasant (i.e. give him another chance) - and explain that you want him to phone you with the outcome of his investigation.

I'd ring him back and tell him that you are not satisfied with his response, and you would like him to give you that update without you having to go back into the store.

Then call their head office and complain to them.

Pop in the store to see him?! NO I bloody well won't! You are spoken to like that and YOU have to go out of YOUR way to ensure it's being dealt with? I don't think so!

Dr Northerner - I am angry on your behalf. you have been spending £5k every year at this shop at the assistants attitude stinks. the manager sounds little better. I would go straight to head office with this one.

contact head office. Describe the incident exactly as you have done on this thread. Say you will await an official response as well as a formal letter of apology from the staff member ( tell them exactly what time it was so they can check the person's name on the shift). Demand action - you will not go away until you have had a satisfactory response.

Ring him NOW

Don't go back into the store. If he wants to see you face to face, then he should come to your house.

I know I am going against the grain and I am not defending the woman at all BUT I think you should get this into perspective. She said something rude.
She shouldn't have but she has a crappy job and was obviously in a shit mood. You have complained, what do you want to happen? You want her disciplined?
Did the manager not apologise? If not than if you can be bothered complain about him but otherwise I reckon you are wasting your own precious time and energy.

Goodness, why shouldn't she want her disciplined Carmenere? Sod the shitty day scenario

I dunno, compassion, karma, whatever...

Carmenere · 01/09/2008 16:04

Actually to be straight making a huge production out of it seems a bit petty. And i'm sure Northener has better things to be doing with her day.

Report
JodieG1 · 01/09/2008 16:05

Well karma would be the shop assistant being disciplined surely?

Report
Carmenere · 01/09/2008 16:10

Karma is that the woman is doing a shit job, is obviously miserable and hates kids. I'm not defending her but her being disciplined will not change Northeners life, will it?

DrNortherner · 01/09/2008 16:12

Carmanere I don;t spend £100 a week somewhere to be spoken to like that. And she should not be working with the public if she can not be bloody polite.

Yes ok, I am just pointing out that it was hardly crime of the century. And you were shopping in Asda not Harrods food hall

Report
DrNortherner · 01/09/2008 16:17

But I work in customer service and to me it is a crime. In my job this would be gross misconduct.

I wasn't rude to her, I didn't even speak to her and she felt the need to tell me to go away! Just my very prescence and that of a small child irked her.

She sould stay at home imo.
