Do you need it if you do it on line?
Actually I'm not sure you need a driving licence to tax a car anyway. Just insurance & MOT.

well i also dont have the reminder letter as havent changed address yet with dvla...to do that i need passport and reg doc (which ive got) and licence

yes, sorry, my op wasn't actually accurate!

I agree JUra, I taxed my car online, so much easier than digging out all the documents...

CJMommy Fri 29-Aug-08 12:32:39

you don't need license to tax car

StealthPolarBear Fri 29-Aug-08 12:33:01

You should still be able to tax it just by entering the vehicle reg.

StealthPolarBear Fri 29-Aug-08 12:34:41

i'll try again but think i need the reminder letter or licence

StealthPolarBear Fri 29-Aug-08 12:36:10

Have to confirm
I am the registered keeper of the vehicle. I have the V5C Registration Certificate (Log Book) and the address on it is correct.

but the address, of course, ios inccorrect

StealthPolarBear Fri 29-Aug-08 12:37:18

&*(% I have really messed this up

StealthPolarBear Fri 29-Aug-08 12:41:32

bump help!

StealthPolarBear Fri 29-Aug-08 12:48:19

wtf I've just tried to call and it's a dead line

snorris Fri 29-Aug-08 12:49:55

I taxed mine online recently shortly after moving house so the wrong address was on the forms. We did however have a postal re-direction in place so it did come to our new address without any problems.

TheFallenMadonna Fri 29-Aug-08 12:51:23

Don't you just fill out part of the v5 to change address. I don't think we needed any supporting documentation.

StealthPolarBear Fri 29-Aug-08 13:30:26

phew all sorted

StealthPolarBear Fri 29-Aug-08 13:32:18

Thanks everyone
Managed to get through to the local offices who advised me I could get it done at the Post office with jusyt the reg doc and insurance (and would have needed MOT if car had needed one)
They were right! PLus nice lady who works there gave me the licence change forms and said that should probably sort out my 'lost licence' problem.
I am so lucky! Hopefully will be more careful and organised in future!

katiechops Fri 29-Aug-08 13:42:48

Just tried to do mine online as it's due too, but it keep saying that the number I've typed in is invalid. Grr! Long wait in the post office queue for me tomorrow morning! angry

StealthPolarBear Fri 29-Aug-08 13:43:22

can you get it done if youre waiting for MOT?
think some big post offices are open on sats, if not be first in the queue on mon!

LoveMyGirls Fri 29-Aug-08 13:46:23

Mot isn't up until 7th sept so should be ok otherwise if i do it the other way round my tax will be over a week late.
