My dh's gran is 94 and hates it when we buy her gifts - she does not want money spending on her! We normally buy her edible gifts.

We bought my gran a lovely photo frame & at her party we had a big family portrait done & got it enlarged for the frame. It was lovely & she appreciated it, normally she'd have said 'Oh I've got one just the same in the loft/wardrobe/cupboard'. I suppose when you're 90 you've seen nearly all before.

For my Nan's birthday I got her a photo Tray from Fenwicks.
It is a lovely wooden tray, in beech or mahogony. The base of the tray is a picture frame with lots of different size windows for you to put your own photos in.

She loved it, she can look at the photos while eating her lunch.

If she likes gardening, what about a coffee table garden book? Or, how mobile is she? You could get her tickets (made by you or really purchased) for visits to big/historical gardens? Which is a nice day out with you all as well?

I also took my Nan to Claridges Hotel in London for her 80th Birthday. We had High Tea there. They played happy birthday on the piano for her and I arranged a bouquet of flowers to be given to her.

She said it was a day she would never forget.
