I am stuck here at home alone as my dh and ds are stuck at Grandmas house after an awful day yesterday which I won't bore you all with now! DS is 1 and DH has about 3 nappies with him and apparently the local shops are shut so heaven knows what will happen today!

Very weird for me as not spent this long away from ds but not enjoying the break..would rather they were here safely!

Dd's nursery is shut today but as I'm on maternity leave anyway I was looking forward to snuggling up on the couch with a good book. Now I'll be entertaining dd - am I a terrible mummy to be a tad disappointed?!!

The snow looks beautiful through the window (we are in rural Suffolk) & DS & I are nice & cosy but my DH is due to land at Heathrow in an hour; the taxi took 4 hours to get 50 miles so had to turn back - I just don't know what he will do when he lands (after a 12 hour flight - we are 150 miles from Heathrow so he's not going to be very happy!!). My mum, who had been staying with me whilst DH was away got stranded in London last night & had to sit up all night in a cafe - not much fun at her age but she did have a friend with her & luckily they sounded quite jolly when they rang this morning!

So, I am really just sitting here feeling really helpless about how to help DH - any suggestions?

Lindy - sounds like your Mum is having a whale of a time with all those truckers
Unfortunately we have just missed it - by about 10 miles, so I am still at work. Dh was due to go to Luton today so he gets the days at home - why is life so unfair?? Left him a list of jobs to do though.

My kids are all upset because they haven't had snow. Its just very windy and extremely cold here in West Yorkshire.

I have had two days off work because of the snow - travelling is treacherous and DS1's school is closed. DS1 has been having great fun sledging with his pals - DS2 (20 months) has also loved his first experience of snow - he thought being pushed down a hill(small!) by his big brother was a hoot. He can only last so long before the cold sets in! He is now having a nap, DS1 is sledging so I am on Mumsnet when I should be catching up on some paperwork at home - naughty!

we had our schools closed yesterday, but today seems a bit better, kids loved it though! Oldest child spent the first half of the day at school but so few turned up they whiled away time building snowmen, until the school decided to close!

pamima,

I know I should be grateful. It must be truly awful to be stranded for hours in your car like some poor people have been. Also my brother was stranded at Luton airport last night - may still be there actually!
But, I still would like some snow here (Please) just for the weekend so we could build snowmen and throw snowballs. Sad and immature, I know!

It was great for me and dd to spend the day with dh. Although he travelled to a training day - at first he called to see if the day was going ahead and if it was possible to get to the golf course where it was being held. They said yes - road was okay and the day was on. He got to about 2 minutes drive away only to be called on the mobile and told they had decided to cancel the day. He decided to come home and work rather than go to the office. It was nice to have an extra day.. hopefully a little more snow to enjoytomorrow. Might even take dd ( 6 mths tomorrow) out in her snowsuit !!
