Do children get ill less if they live in a warm climate?

The UK winter is really getting me down. My girls (2.5 / 4) seem to be ill almost constantly, particularly my older one. We do think about moving to a hotter climate, partially with this issue in mind.
Does anyone know if children get sick less if they live in a hot place?

well we moved abroad to a hotter climate when I was young (and then I came back here later) and at first we were ill a fair bit (something about not having immunity to local bugs) but after that, I can count on my fingers the number of times I was ill. Certainly none of this continuous cold/flu stuff that we get here in the UK at winter time.

You do have to be extra vigilant about food safety in hotter climates. Also my younger sister was as ill there as she was here - some people just get loads of colds wherever they are!
