Don't trust your dh with a brand new buggy

I bought a lovely brand new Mclaren buggy - bright red - really nice - about 2 weeks ago.
Last weekend my dh took my dd and ds2 to a christening in London while I stayed at home with ill and feverish ds1. Slung the buggy over his shoulder (did I mention it had a very useful shoulder strap?) and off he went.
Today I said to him "can you get that buggy out of the back of your car for me?" "I haven't got a buggy in the car." "Yes, you do, you took it to London last weekend".

Anyway turns out the idiot took ds out of the buggy, put him in the car, and drove off. Leaving said buggy on the pavement.

I'd never even pushed the bloody thing!

Hope it has a nice new home, wherever it is.

Oh no!!!
I know just the buggy you mean, we got one last year and I love it. You have this MN's permission to throttle him.

oh no!! do you have "away from home" insurance?

I think you are entitled to:

a new buggy
a bunch of very expensive and wonderful flowers
a bottle of champagne
and a grovelling apology.

Twit. My DP has not made this error but appears to have lived in blissful bloody ignorance of the invitations to various children's parties currently pinned up in our kitchen, instead. He has agreed, very cheerily, to take DD1 to one of these, but I'll bet you a fiver it doesn't occur to him that a card and present are required.

could you phone the chunch and see if it there??

Report
misdee · 07/02/2005 22:47

men tsk.

was it a triumph by any chance?

Its definitely not at the church, he remembers taking ds out of it to put him in the car. He thinks it is fairly normal to leave it on the street by mistake... "anyone could do it". ?? NO THEY COULDN'T!

Surely insurance wouldn't pay out for a deliberately abandoned vehicle?!!!

God. I need one for going away on Wed as well/.

So what shall I buy tomorrow?

I would phone your house insurance and ask, you never know

just looked it up - yup, misdee, it was a triumph. About £70 worth if I remember right. I might not do though.

Well, I suggest you go out tomorrow and find a new bright red buggy that is twice....no, 3 times the price.

If you can't find one, just buy enough for one in each car and another to leave at home.

I'd be gutted too.

What are they like? My dh forgot to pack the buggy when we went away for the weekend, but at least it was still there when we got home. Still at least yours didn't put the buggy in the car and leave ds on the pavement.

OK, I have about 30 mins tomorrow in which to buy a buggy. Should I go to Mothercare World, Toysrus, or a local quite big but not completely fabulous baby shop? (They do have a LOT of car seats but I've never looked at buggies there).
Hmmmm

I have a Jane 3 wheeler! This was meant to be a lightweight one to replace my other mclaren (which was 5 yrs old and the wheels had practically disintegrated).

Yes, I think just go for another triumph. Unless you think a Volo with a sunshade pack is any better? They all look the same to me. It has to have a sunshade.

My DP did this, drove all the way to the Science museum with two boys and their cousins and then rang to say he might have left buggy on pavement down the road from house, so I went and collected it (old and grotty Mclaren still there even in mean streets of East London), so maybe it could happen to any man
