How do you make those bands / bracelets?

I saw some kids at DD's school making some bands using some plastic laces. A child in my class heard me tell my nephew that I like them so today he came to school and had bought me a pack. I told him I would make one for him but I can't do it!
I thought I knew how to but infact, doesn't matter how many ways I try it, it just doesn't work!
I've tried doing a search but can't find them. MIL said they are called Scooby Doo but I don't know. HELP!

No idea on how to make them, but what a lovely boy

Oh, I saw them in a department store near us the other day and yes it is scubadoo, or something like scooby doo

he is so lovely. I didn't even realise he was listening, it was during playtime. I must try not to tell him off in class!

Just done a quick google and they are indeed caled scoobydoos - some form of friendship bracelet!

Hmm, found this:

Yep they are called scooby doos. What you do is take 2 lengths of thin plasic (the cord from inside old telephone wire works if not) and fold them both in half and tie a knot at the folded end to produce a loop.
Hold the loop in your left hand (for right handed people - swap if your a leftie) and place the (now 4) stips of plastic at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock.
The pattern is then 12 over 3 (pic the 12 o'clock wire and move it over 3 oclock to 4:30), 3, over 6, 6 over 9 and then 9 through the loop you made when you moved 12.
Then pull all four strips to tighten the knot and start all over again.
I know this sounds complicated but I cant think of an easier way to explain it.

Does it help????????

do they give you instructions on how to make them?

Hulababy Thu 03-Feb-05 22:09:22

I got those instructions from a chat forum I googled!

Hulababy Thu 03-Feb-05 22:11:56

Is it the same as doing this?
Press NEXT and there are different methods?

or \linkl{\this?}

kid Thu 03-Feb-05 22:12:23

sounds confusing but I think it is working. The kids will be so impressed with me!

Hulababy Thu 03-Feb-05 22:13:38

Hulababy Thu 03-Feb-05 22:14:00

Lowryn Thu 03-Feb-05 22:15:06

Lowryn Thu 03-Feb-05 22:16:47

Or scoubiland

kid Thu 03-Feb-05 22:18:18

He bought them locally (hackney) and paid 92p for 26

Hulababy Thu 03-Feb-05 22:19:47

Thanks for link. BTW, Kid - Lowryn's second link has loads of projects to make - including how to do the freindship bracelet!

Lowryn Thu 03-Feb-05 22:21:07

Where I saw them for sale they were selling a booklet of different designs you could follow.
I had a quick browse and decided, like knitting, it was going to be something I will never be able to follow written instructions of!

Hulababy Thu 03-Feb-05 22:22:54

There's is a pattern book on that site too. Dreading DD getting old enough to like stuff like this - I am SO rubbish at fiddly stuff!

Lowryn Thu 03-Feb-05 22:22:55

Oh and make sure you read the secret code of scoubidous on the second like, otherwise you might send someone the wrong message LOL!

Lowryn Thu 03-Feb-05 22:24:05

second link...too tired, must close eyes

kid Thu 03-Feb-05 22:27:51

My DD can wear the one I am making to school tomorrow to show everyone how clever I am!
I bet I have loads of her friends pestering me to make them one.
