REALLY EMBARRASSING q about waxing "bits"

I've changed my name I'm so embarrassed but I am a regular on here, honest!

Anyway, my inner labia protude about half an inch or so from the outer. I am so ashamed of this I can't bear to get a wax, which I would really like, particularly for the birth of my first baby. I would want the poor waxer to get right in to all my nooks and crannies down there ideally including, to be really gross and even more , between my buttocks

Has anyone here been in this predicament? What would/did you do?

I know there is similarly themed thread on here today, and that's what's got me thinking about it again.

they have seen it all b4. you could keep changing salons each time.

I wouldn't even care to be honest! Everyone's bits are different aren't the?

BTW, there's nothing gross about it!

Misdee is right, so many waxers have seen it all before. If you are going to a waxer who makes you feel uncomfortable then a) you're visiting someone totally unprofessional & b) They're in the wrong job !

FWIW, your bits don't sound that unusual to me. Most women have more 'fleshy' bits than the porn mag 'little girl' type tucked in look. Sorry to be graphic ! Be proud of your pouty bits

I'm sure they have seen it all before I'm not that georgous down there either (lets face it who is) they have seen it all before and they put you so much at ease. Just be prepared to have your legs in the air like you do with a baby when changing a nappy to get to the bum area. To be honest the erm mound is more painful than the more delicate bits IMO.

No more embarassing than a smear test. Word of warning I was booked in for a wax on the Friday a week and a bit before my due date. Of course on the Monday night went into labour so before I went into the hospital was in the shower trying to shave with the help of a mirror and DP. I'm sure having been hairless would have helped a bit afterwards.

Book yourself in and good luck x

  1. Your topography sounds quite normal - don't judge against porn shots

2. It's their job
3. Not sure why you want it done before birth. i have never done any waxing, but I would expwect the re-growth to be a bit uncomfortable, and that's the last thing you want. As is a re-wax within weeks of having a baby.
4. Could you find something else to worry about, like what brand of champagne/cava you should celebrate with, what chocs you would like people to bring you...

so you're going for a 'hollywood'? I'd like to have one of those. hairy bumcracks are not glamorous.

I would have thought that if your bits were abnormal, it would have been brought up during your smear test so don't worry, just go for it (wish I'd done it prior to my birth cos that's the main thing on my mind - how my bikini line was looking...)

It's normal for the inner labia to protrude, so I wouldn't worry too much about it! Waxers are used to getting right into all the nooks and crannies, and if you have a Brazilian, you will probably be asked to bend over so that the waxer can get right in between your buttocks, anyway. They will have seen it all before, and after all, if they didn't like the idea they wouldn't be doing the job!

I do agree with Blu, though; these days they don't expect you to be shaved or anything before the baby is born, and once you've had the baby you'll be uncomfortable enough as it is, without adding itchy regrowth into the equation.

Sounds pretty normal down there to me - or I'm abnormal too and I've never had any complaints .
Re-growth is OK with waxing, not itchy like shaving is.
Another option if you're a bit embarrassed to go to a salon and put your legs in the air is to smear the whole area with depilatory cream. Fine to use for all the areas you have in mind. Leaves it nice and smooth and tidy for a while.

LOL "topography" I like that!

I'm basically a real prude and if I MUST have my all and sundry on display to all and sundry, I want it to look its best. If I have to go to the docs, I generally just whisk it off with a battery shaver, but now can't see or reach properly.

I probably won't bother with another wax afterwards down there as I'm hoping when the time comes, I'll be able to sort it out myself.

I have already given champagne/sushi instructions to dh

Sweetkitty, I can so see me in that shower scenario! .

My paranoia definitely stems from never having seen "nanies" apart from those perfect ones in the mags. Not that I go out of my way to look at those, just have a curious peek when I have an opportunity

Thanks everyone for your reassurances, having never been before, it's appreciated x

I'm sure mine are a bit like that and I've never given it a second thought - plus I've had a brazilian (when they leave a 'landing strip' and rip everything else - including buttock hair - off) millions of times.

If you are that embarrassed can't you just get a decent 'normal' bikini/leg wax - it will make you feel a bit better without having to go the whole hog IYKWIM!

Believe me, the last thing on your mind when you're in labour is whether your bits look perfect or not! Everyone is different, all shapes and sizes are normal and to be honest, no-one will care what you look like.

Report
sillysally · 31/01/2005 16:18

Oatcake, it's not glamorous is it!

WWB and Sponge - thanks for the "normal"

No, I wouldn't go for the complete Hollywood, I'd still like a bit of a "landing strip"

Enid - good for you, I wish I was more like that but no, an ordinary one wouldn't do, considering jsut how much "pink' is going to be exposed

Coddy - so you didn't see that thing on Ch4 (probably) with the girl getting her actual anus bleached then??

errr, I only looked in the mirror yesterday after buying some, shall we say 'nice' underwear only to think 'I really need to get something done down there...'

you really are not alone!

Just a word of warning re getting waxed just prior to childbirth: consider how you will fell about the M/Ws making comments about your waxing. I had my first ds in the summer and spent the days before his birth sunbathing in the nude in the garden! It was only when I was near naked giving birth that I realisewd how silly I had been as the M/Ws could see from my lack of white marks that I had sunbathed nude and they all made comments about it which I found really embarrassing but was unable to deal with because I was in the throes of labour. I really wished I had not sunbathed nude!

That last one was for you Oaty!

That had crossed my mind, Lonelymum, but I condluded that I would feel better being as neat and tidy as possible (part of being a prude). I'm so sorry you had to endure that sh*t from the mws [anrgy] as well as everything else. Some people can be so insensitive! Stop regretting it, it made you feel better, so up theirs!

Oh yes, Jampots, anal bleaching indeed! - do a web search.

need to disagree re midwives. I've seen a few vaginas in my 18 months of training to be a midwife. They are all completely different, unique, unusual, but I've never found a midwife who has commented on anything.

Please don't get hung up about how they talk about your bits. Beleive me, they're too busy talking about how stroppy you are!

Report
sillysally · 31/01/2005 16:43

I didn't mean to imply all mws can be like that - all the ones I've met are, like you say, total individuals. Good luck with your training!

my sis insisted i get a wax before i went itno labour. and im glad i did, not a brazilian, just an exttensive bikini. i think its just good manners. you wouldnt go into labour with filthy fingernails would you? or a job interview in stinky dirty clothes? so why go into labour with an unruly repulsive bush?
unless you are one of the lucky ones who have hardly anyhair down there!
