Hey just checking what this is all about, mad mums netter in bed

Gwenick Fri 28-Jan-05 23:32:26

I'm married to an ex Zimbabwean, but I'm afraid none of the people I know are ex Rhodesians......mainly because it ceased to exist over 20yrs ago

Unless of course, you were a ridgeback in a former life?

Gwenick Fri 28-Jan-05 23:35:40

???? Levanna

RHODIEGUY Fri 28-Jan-05 23:36:03

Oops shows me age, us old un's think of the good old days unfortunatley. Where does he come from Gwenick

Levanna Fri 28-Jan-05 23:37:10

The dogs .

RHODIEGUY Fri 28-Jan-05 23:38:26

Ugly looking dogs, hairs sticking up on their backs. Bit like us men though

lou33 Fri 28-Jan-05 23:39:20

so what did your first post mean then?

RHODIEGUY Fri 28-Jan-05 23:42:01

Just checking to see if there are any mums from Rhodesia now called Zimbabwe

lou33 Fri 28-Jan-05 23:42:57

what did you mean by "mad mums netter in bed"?

RHODIEGUY Fri 28-Jan-05 23:44:54

Ah wife is always on here, so like your hubby never have time to go on computer until the mums net brigade are in bed

Gwenick Fri 28-Jan-05 23:45:41

"the good old days" well according to my inlaws - they lasted until around 1998 (I arrived in the country in 1997) And indeed while I was there in 1997 and 1998 (99 wasn't so good) I certainly saw plenty of evidence of the 'good life'........

I just think it's a shame that some people have to live in the past - Rhodesia is dead and gone - Zimbabwe the rainbow nation is there now - and has been for many years.

Levanna, I added something to your thread earlier today. Hope you read it. << end of hijack >>

lou33 Fri 28-Jan-05 23:47:03

ah well not my dh as we have 2 hooked up

who is your wife?

Aero Fri 28-Jan-05 23:47:47

lol rhodieguy. my dh is also from Zimbabwe and I understood your first post! He grew up in Bulawayo.

Gwenick Fri 28-Jan-05 23:50:40

Aero - I always understood his first post and found it offensive

ideal for those still living in the past

RHODIEGUY Fri 28-Jan-05 23:51:42

I agree Gwenick but its the old folk who are now left with nothing I think about. I have a aunt who cant get no pension, meat is a luxury. once every two weeks maybe. She just lives on what we can send her. Hey I love Zim / Rhod if we were allowed to let by gones be by gones then our children could have made that a great country.

RHODIEGUY Fri 28-Jan-05 23:53:32

Cant say LOU33 , y know i'd be shot

Aero Fri 28-Jan-05 23:53:44

did you Gwenick? I just thoough it meant his dw who is always on here is in bed and he gets a chance to go online and see what it's all about.
did I read that wrongly? Have had too much wine tonight though so not exactly clear on everything! wasn't offended though.

RHODIEGUY Fri 28-Jan-05 23:54:27

Hi Aero I was born in Bulawayo grew up in Gwelo

Gwenick Fri 28-Jan-05 23:54:36

Rhodie - when was the last time you went to Zim........last time I was there there were still plenty of whites acting, talking and living like they still lived in Rhodesia - not in Zimbabwe

lou33 Fri 28-Jan-05 23:55:33

But she is bound to notice this thread anyway so you are busted whetever happens.

Aero Fri 28-Jan-05 23:58:26

sorry guys - i'm N Irish myself and don't completely understand it all (specially when inebriated), but then not many who aren't Irish understand the whole Irish thing either, but dh did grow up in Bulawayo though his parents were from Ireland originally.

RHODIEGUY Fri 28-Jan-05 23:58:44

I took my child their 3 yrs ago, to meet her aunt. I enjoyed it but people were moaning about what was happening and everyone was struggling, these were not whites. I grew up with whites and non whites. I went to a non whites school.
