just somewhere to natter about them!!

My Molly can go out from tomorrow......have been walking her round the house on the lead. Am very nervous about tomorrow......will either have to leave her in the house or take her with me when I take the kids to school.......I was going to take her when I get dd from nursery at 11.20 cos it will be quiet....am worried about taking her and her getting nervous......eek!!!

What kind of pup do you have?? I brough mine out when she was about 7 wks and she was fine and now she loves her walks..

german shepherd!!! she is 11 weeks old now.....got her (and nearly lost her) 2 weeks ago. Training is very important to me, as I need to be able to control her with 3 young kids and a puschair to handle when I am out with her!!

We have a German Shepherd-she is nearly 3 now but is still gorgeous! But they are a handful Titania-as you know German Shepherds need a firm hand or they take advantage!

What colouring does she have Titania-ours is mostly black with some tan, and is long haired. I expect you will get lots of admiring comments from people when you take her out. Everyone seems to love GSD puppies!

she hasnt been out yet!!! can go out tomorrow!!! the parents were quite short haired so i am assuming she will be.....she is very fluffy though. she is black and tan. she looks like she has got 4 long tan socks on!!!

Titania,
Getting her used to the lead is the best way.. as long as she stays beside you you should be fine going out in public, but the new noises might cause distraction for her and might stop and start as you go along..

I have a west highland.. She is 3 months now and she is a small bread with lots of fluff.. A right little cutie.. She is treated like a kid at the mo.. But have a snapping problem with her when she gets excited so that will have to be solved.. and i have her nearly trained well nearly..

We have sectioned off half the kitchen (DH's idea) I'm recovering from major abdominal surgery and now havbe to scale a fence several times a day just to make a cuppa.

EpiffanyFeast (piff is that you?) I am sooooo jealous of you - our Ridgeback is nearly 4 now (but still my baby pup!)

We had a crate, it was great. After a short time we didn't shut her in but she loved it as it was her den and she could go there for peace and quiet. We put it under the stairs.

Did you get her from Jackie Ellis by any chance?

i have a border collie puppy, and feel so sorry for her as have been out loads recently as dh is in hospital, so she is all slone a lot. but she tends just to sleep then, and we havent had any complaints. she has a large garden torun about it, and we have just started walking her as well.

she is piddles when excited or nervous. i fill a bucket with bleach and disinfectant each morning so have it handy all day lol. i knew buying a mop was a good idea

our ridgeback is 10, she is fab, but still gets very excited (the piddling has become incontinence now though ) the breeder used cages very effectivly although we have never had one ourselves

EpiffanyFeast,
give her as little space as possible when going to bed, and put news paper down near the door that you let her out for her wee wees.. this way she can't wee all over the place and she should'nr wet her bed so she will have to use the paper.. A small utility area is a good size.. It helped train mine.. and you won't have to be jumping around the kitchen for a cuppa.. hope this helps..

we have newspaper by the back door, and she does wee on that, but if i forget to put it down she will wee/poo wherever. we have gated the kitchen off so dd2 doesnt torment her too much. dd1 is trying to help me train her as well. she is gonna be a large dog tho

she is really good with house training, she does all her wees and poos outside daytime when I take her out, its just first thing in mornign, she whizzes around and arcs pee everywhere!
She pees on paper and poos on paper if she goes at nightime though. So pretty good really...
DH has cordoned off the back door and her paper lies by the door, so first thing, to get her outside for her excited bit she would have to trail through the mess
DH and his bright ideas

No CD we got her from a hobby breeder in Lincs, we searched high and low for the right puppy though!

was at the vets about a week ago, for the final jabs.. they had a spray that you can spray onto the paper and it attracts the dog to do there buiness there.. Don't know if it works my sil reckons it did..

molly is a nightmare for climbing and squeezing through things!!! we had a stairgate between the lounge and the kitchen but she can still squeeze through the bars!!!! and when she is going to be too big to do that.....im sure she will be able to jump it!!! I was going to try training classes but there aren't any near enough that don't involve me having to get a train and a long walk........

we got some drops to do that and to start with they worked but they dont now.......its a nightmare,,,,,,,

Its great to have them, Its like haveing a child.. I have the problem of snachers as mine is a pedigree.. I was talking to out local police man while out walking her and he said to mind her don't leave her out by herself as we had a no of missing pedigree dogs over the last while.. They even stole his jack russels pups so hubby takes her with him while he is working (how silly i know) but i would be upset if someone took her.. he's a builder so she stays in the van and lets her out every so often..

mines kc reg full champ pedigree also, there was one RR that got snatched here lately, bibi is getting micro chipped asap and will never be left outside while we are not in.
We are fully gated so hopefully she will be ok...
would be gutted if she got nicked!

Titania-Jess used to aqueeze through our catflap until she was incredibly big. We were convinced she would get stuck although she never did!
