Moving to London - Family friendly areas SW?

Hi!

We are considering moving back into London as DH has a job offer. He will be working nr Green Park. We have one DD (2) and another on the way (due winter).

We are debating on SW London v. Surrey (e.g. woking or Guildford and surrounding areas). DHs commute time being the issue. He's currently very lucky and can drive to work in 20 mins. He wants to move back to London and avoid the long commute / crazy season ticket prices out there.

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to move in the SW of London? We would like to be close to A3 in order to get on the road to see family. We have a max budget £900k and need min 3 bedrooms - ideally a garden too (a big ask I know). House preferred instead of a flat. I am a SAHM and generally like going for coffee, popping to the shops, classes for the kids (covid permitting), nice walks and park visits, the stereotypical SAHM life really.

I don't even know where to start regarding potential nursery or school for DD1 and how to factor that in. But we won't be looking at private if we can help it, until Secondary school at least.

I'm nervous about moving to an area with a new baby on the way and not having any friends locally, so an area that is SAHM friendly, a chance to make friends, somewhere to take the children providing covid allows!

We are considering Wimbledon area? We know it from our pre kid days so familiar with the pubs but not family friendly places and things to do!

Any advice or recommendations would be gladly received! X

I live in Surrey (Virginia Water) and have done all my live its a really beautiful place to live with great schools and amenities. You would get a reasonable sized property in Woking/Guildford for your budget. It would mean about an hours drive for your hubby to get to work, but the plus side of moving just that little bit out of London are the fact you will be able to afford a nicer property 😀

Thanks @Ladymouse I'll take a look at the area! I'd love to have more space but need somewhere that is the easiest, best commute for my husband to sell it to him for it to be worth it.
