Please please tell me someone watched this last night. Missed the last 20 minutes or so as ds2 woke up screaming with teething trouble. Pleeeaasssseeeee tell me what happened WHO DID IT?

The father of the bride (Jim Carter) killed the groom's best friend because he was blackmailing him over deliberately spreading foot and mouth. Then the youngest daughter killed the bride and groom because she was in love with the best friend who she thought would leave his wife & 2 children for her, and hated that her sister had been having an affair with him etc etc.

This series makes me cross because it's so different now from the original books...but I still keep watching it.

Agree about the books - but still one of the better things on tv these days.

The youngest daughter. She gave Dalziel and Pascoe the little girls doll and when they said it matches the dolls arm they found outside her sisters house she realised the girl had witnessed it all. She went off to try and kill her but was interrupted by Pascoe's father whom she tried to kill.
Dalziel and Pascoe twigged it was her and ran across fields to stop her. Dalziel collapsed and urged Pascoe on to save his father. This he did. It all ended with Dalziel in hospital and Pascoe making things up with his father and staying on for a few days to help out on the farm following the cousins arrest for the foot and mouth profiteering.
Hope this makes sense, ask again if I haven't gone far enough back.

Nb: She did it because she always felt blamed by her father as her mum died giving birth to her. She fell in love with the best man and when she realised her elder sister had taken away the only person who had truly loved her and was pregnant by him she flipped.

I've been zooming past this thread all day as I taped it last night and have just watched it! Best detective series by a long chalk.
