When shopping with a buggy where do you put the groceries?

Little old ladies frown when they see me piling tins of beans and loaves of bread on top of my baby but I worry they'll think I'm a shoplifter if I stash it all in the under-buggy basket before paying for it.

i put it in the hood, or hang a basket from the handles!

Really, you'd think I'd have better things to worry about, I know.

You could actually put things in your pocket, or down your dress- as long as you don't leave the shop without paying your not doing anything wrong. Therefore I shove the stuff wherever I can; underneath basket, in the hood etc

I carry a basket in one hand and push the buggy with the other (I bang into things a lot!!) I have even been known to take 2 trips through the checkout if I cant carry it all in 1 basket - that way the paid for stuff can be stashed away before the second lot.

I balance a basket on the hood usually (carefully) and make DH do the 'big shop' as he uses the car during the week and I refuse to drag all the shopping home in the buggy up the hill

I hang basket on handles. Can't buy much that way. If I'm doing a big shop I use a trolley and have the car.

Hang on handles. I would never have a buggy that didn't have good, sturdy handles! Sod all this crappy little basket malarkey.

Ohhhhh I get you now. You mean when you are actually in the supermarket. I hang a basket of the side of the buggy. Not ideal, really, but what else can you do?

I put it any where it fits! Although a water melon on the hood wasn't a particularly good idea, woops!

You could ask if there is somewhere you can put your buggy while you shop, sometimes there is space beside the security station or the customer service desk.

If it is a umberela style folding buggy you could tkae a big trolley and put the buggy in the trolley.

It's a very not-compact travel system stylee thingamy and as LO is only 7 weeks he's still in the pram bit, so hood is out of action. So I've just been piling the grocerios on top of him as he sleeps but he doesn't mind, honest ...

Amazed at what a response this thread has generated - you truly are a kindly bunch (saying that, you just clicked out of pity, right ...?!)
