Flea Treatments - Need recommendations!

Hi, we've recently moved into a new property and spots have started coming up on my feet and lower legs. I'm convinced it's fleas but have never had to deal with them before as we don't have pets. What should I use to get rid of them? Anyone know a very good product to help? Can't stand the though of fleas everywhere...
