Skipping Rhymes

The Eeny meeny miney mo thread made me think about skipping in the playground. I know we had a few rhymes but I don't remember any of them - one had something to do with 24 robbers knocking at the door.

What skipping rhymes do you remember?

There was a second bit which started:

But for the life of me I can't remember the rest. Can anyone enlighten me?

Can't think of a skipping one but the balls against the wall one

Gooseyloosey - we did yours as a song. I now have the tune stuck in my head!

I forgot about the ball games but I don't remember having rhymes for ours.

(This is the skipping where 2 people turn the rope and one skips in the middle)

at my first primary school we were fantastic at skipping - we could do "one and out" with the whole class (girls only obv ), but then I moved and the new school (only 5 miles away) didn't do skipping. Instead we had a load of ball games (sevensies? bate?).
Are you allowed to do the big skipping games in schools any more (thinking huge long rope, "health and safety" issues)?

I have just enthusiastically skimmed the thread. My dd is very much into skipping at the moment, and I don't know any English ones, I'll have to teach her some of these!

What tunes do you sing them on, or is there no tune as such, just a basic rhythm?

I know some French ones if you're interested...

Funny how rhymes differ in different regions unless you are from my neck of the woods Pesto (near Campsie Fells.)

The version of 'this is number one and the story's just begun' that I learnt at Guide camp had the stirring chorus 'Roll me over in the clover, roll me over, lay me down and do it again...'

I don't remember many skipping rhymes except Cowboy Joe as above and these two:

All the girls in our town have a happy life
except for [girl skipping] who wants to be a wife
a wife she shall be
a husband she shall have
and that shall be
[random boy's name]
she kisses him, she cuddles him, she sits him on her knee
Oh my darling, won't you marry me?
yes, no, yes, no...
(faster and faster till she trips)

and this one where you had to jump in when your name was called...

We did Popeye and I'm a Little Bumper Car for elastic skipping, but for some reason were more into clapping games - used 'Si Si my baby' for clapping.

1,2,3 (until skipper trips)

and

We had a dog and we called him Fido
When our Fido was a pup
He would stand upon his front legs (touch ground)
If you held the back ones up (try to catch legs while jumping)
