one we went to gave a little packet of wild flowers seeds with something written on it about thinking of them when the flowers bloomed.

ooh yes like the idea of seeds, something for people to keep, that won't end up in the proverbial landfill or stuffed at the back of a drawer for years on end!

do you think i need to do favours for the kids or do you think a big bowl of sweets on the table will suffice?!

we were given bulbs at a wedding in Amsterdam, lailiasmum - would have been a lovely idea if we hadn't
a) been given them in the dark
b) been completely rat-arsed (first night away from ds)

We tried to eat them . DH got most of the way through his...

we had gingerbread hearts with the names of the guests iced on - they doubled as place names - really nice - ordered them online.

I wrote people's names on a stone and a personal message underneath (most)
and varnished them so they were nice and shiney

I was married on a budget

We gave charity badges to the ladies and charity wrist bands to the men as our wedding favours. We picked 2 charities that are important to us. was nice to think that others were benefitting (be it in a small way) from our wedding and all our guests thouhgt it was great.

Also if u want little boxes to put favours in Tescos do some lovely ones that you make up yourself at a great price.

how about semi precious gem stones in a little bag. They only cost about 50p to a couple of quid each.

For kids - Early Learning do some great couloured paperbags which we filled with mix of sweets and a colouring book and crayons. Gave them out just before the speeches so that the kids were entertained. Also gave them bubbles for just after the ceremony which looked great on the photos.

Also if you are putting cameras on the tables beware of kids getting hold them - I was not prepared for the 20 packets of photos of peoples knees, busts and torsos - kids had got hold of them and whilst they had a great time I didn't get the photos I wanted.

Tree seeds last longer than flowers. Or I made lots of little velvet silk lined pouches stuffed with a healing crystal and rose petals - time consuming but lovely.

Dh's aunt had little people made out of wood with guest's names written on in poker work. Doubled as place names and favours - tho liking the idea of ginger bread for this!

we gave our guests something of England ( married in Aus) kids got rock candy and guests got small jar of jam - famous jam makers near where we lived and a packet of twinnings tea.

don't bother
no-one will notice if you don't have them
no-one keeps them
they either end up left on the tables or in the bin at home
