my friend really likes these names but are they a bit feminine, especially if you are living in england and not ireland?

nappyaddict Tue 31-Jul-07 23:50:52

oh and what about Cillian (its pronounced killian)

moondog Tue 31-Jul-07 23:52:16

The last one is too like cereal which is what kid would be called by all nad sundry.
First one would be used with 'nancy'

nappyaddict Tue 31-Jul-07 23:53:17

and colman (reminded me of mustard)

bookthief Tue 31-Jul-07 23:53:45

Clancy is okish but agree with moondog. I read that as Cereal at first glance.

I do like Cillian though.

paulaplumpbottom Tue 31-Jul-07 23:54:05

nappyaddict Tue 31-Jul-07 23:54:14

bookthief Tue 31-Jul-07 23:54:16

KerryMumbledore Tue 31-Jul-07 23:56:17

What IS it with people and messed up names?

Nappy - I thought you were in Ireland? The country where we don't do wacko names! Just nice Irish ones. Cillian is lovely. Push her for Cillian.

Clancy is just wrong

Cearul is just plain wrong.

nappyaddict Tue 31-Jul-07 23:57:53

no im not in ireland!! im in the midlands in england.

nappyaddict Tue 31-Jul-07 23:58:46

i think she was worried about it being related to the word kill. what do you think?

KerryMumbledore Tue 31-Jul-07 23:58:48

Where did I have it in my head that you were Irish?

KerryMumbledore Tue 31-Jul-07 23:59:36

Just think Cillian Murphy.

[sigh]

Anywho - that's a good point.

But who did that skit where ANY name could be made fun of?

paulaplumpbottom Wed 01-Aug-07 00:00:31

Its just a horrible name, why not name the poor child something normal

KerryMumbledore Wed 01-Aug-07 00:02:47

Is she on drugs?

bookthief Wed 01-Aug-07 00:05:02

What about Connor or Ciaran or Calum or Declan or any of the other nice, normal Irish names?

Pinkchampagne Wed 01-Aug-07 00:07:13

I personally wouldn't choose those names

bookthief Wed 01-Aug-07 00:07:43

I'll ask this while I'm on here because I've been wondering for a while:

You know the name Kai which is v popular at the moment, is that pronounced to rhyme with May or Eye? And where did it come from?

paulaplumpbottom Wed 01-Aug-07 00:08:07

Isn't the stupid cop from the Simpsons calle Clancy?

nappyaddict Wed 01-Aug-07 00:11:31

she doesn't like those cos they are widely used over here too. wants something that really says i'm irish i think. (her mil is irish)

well i've posted all the irish names i like on a thread so i can print it off and show her. hope she likes them!!

nappyaddict Wed 01-Aug-07 00:12:36
