Emergency - ds's passport has expired

Am going on holiday on Friday and have just discovered ds's passport expired a month or so ago. Can't believe how follish I have been.

Passport helpline say that there are no emergency appointments tomorrow at a passport office - has anyone just pitched up at one without an appointment and been seen?

how far you going? You could try going there, is there one near you? Or maybe try a different office farther away.

Jura have you actually turned up there? I am hoping if I go with the forms, they may have someone cancel and I could take that appointment (the guy on the phone said they may have cancellations but I can't phone up tomorrow to find out - the earliest appointment the system will book is next day...)

I am utterly frustrated - and feel totally dumb for not checking earlier. Tooi much going on, as always.

Just turn up - someone is bound to miss their appointment. Not that I know about it, but it's what I'd do!

Which passport office are you nearest to? I went to Petty France in London a couple of years ago because of a lost passport. We only had one day to get it sorted and I just turned up and waited. They had a ticket system, just take a ticket and wait. I seem to remember I got up there for about 8am and my number was already in the hundreds! I'd give it a go tbh, what have you got to loose? Good luck.

No appointments at any offices anywhere tomorrow. Earliest I can get is Monday.

Am going to get the form done and checked at the post office and just go down there.

Thanks all. Am feeling extremely stressed!

Update in case this happens to anyone else! Couldn't even get past the door of the passport office! Have managed to make an appointment tomorrow (not in London so will have to travel) and have changed our ferry to an overnight tomorrow evening.

I need my holiday now to recover from the last few hours!

Fingers crossed.

Have to say that last time we went to France on ferry noone checked our passposrts on way out or way back. I was shocked to say the least!

Hula I have had the same experience! But also have two friends who hadn't realised theirs had expired who couldn't board the plane......

The man in the post office (who checked the application for me before I went to the passport office) said they had tightened up massively after the passport crisis a couple of years ago when there was a huge backlog and lots of passports were delayed. So many people turned up at the passport offices demanding late passports that they have switched to appointment only.
