Anyone have a moped/scooter? Recommendations? Legal issues?

Hi, my dh is thinking of getting a moped/motorcycle when we move. He wants a 125cc one as he thinks a 50cc would be to small/slow for him.
Does anyone out there have a moped or bike that they would recommend-he's really only going to use it for an hour a day to get back and forward to the train station, when we move.
He has a full UK driving licence and we think that that only entitles him to drive a 50cc without any further training, anyone know any different?
