Ds had his mmr three weeks ago and we were warned he might get symptoms, but one side of his face is really swollen and hard and seems so sore. Has anyone else's lo had this and how long did it last? Have given calpol and lots of water, anything else I can do?

I remember my DS having a reaction about 3 weeks later. I think there was some swelling in the neck and he had cold-like symptoms. I don't think his face was affected though. Ring NHS direct or go to a walk-in centre.

Hope he's ok.

Quick update. WEnt to doctor and she called another doctor neither of whom cold work out what was wrong. Apparently swelling in wrong place for mumps symptoms. Been sent to paed clinic at hospital today, doctor thinks he has an infection in his lymph nodes so we have strong anti=biotics and an appointment for next week. Feeling very worried still, poor boy

Thanks, me too. His face does seem to have gone down a little today so hopefully the anti-biotics are kicking in. Have been worrying myself sick about the possibilities if it isn't an infection. Fingers crossed he'll be back to normal soon
