Went out for my birthday with my friend on 13 june. Scared of having a fit, so drank steadily since then. Working tomorrow, so psychiatrist sympathetally said he'd drop off some diazepam yesterday.

I've taken two, but still drunk some wine. Am so ashamed of myself, but that's what I thought was best. Any thoughts?

BTW. He's gone by and beyond the line of duty, since he's dropped off a prescription at our local pharmacy before.

Just don't know what to do.

DDs are all fine - they're all my time spent doing apart from when I take diazepam. H has been lovely.

Just don't know why I feel like this, and after seeing a pyschiatrist, for 2 years, I thought it have have some use

earlgrey, don't know your story but hopefully you can be careful mixing wine and diazepam, is your H at home?

Yes, he is. Why is that dangerous? I thought it could help, half and half.

It's standard to avoid alcohol whilst taking tranquilisers (might add that my dh can take a few drinks whilst also knocking back all manner of high-dose pain killers but still not advisable). I would be as careful as you can.

if you can

do you go to AA

do you have a sponsor?

what do you think you ought to do>

lm, yes, I did, 2 weeks ago.

I listened to the chair, went out for a fag, and a man came out and said he'd take me home. He then went (on the way home to take me for a G&T) and promised me not to let the secretary know. Asked me if I'd like an affair!!!!

Kind of lost my faith in the AA, even tho' I know it works for some people.

ok

i guess he got confused and needed sex addicts anonymous!

there must be another branch you can go to

are you in the UK...can your GP refer you to a NHS programme

it sounds like you want to stop drinking, which is great

I don't think he was confused at all. He said not to tell the secretary because he was a well respected member of the AA.

What worries me, is although I've relinquished my driving licence for presumably another year, is that I've been seeing this community psychiatric doctor for two and nothing's got better.

have you talked about in patient treatment

does psych. know you are still drinking, as diazepam and alcohol is bad news

BTW, I think you're right about him swapping one addiction for another.

I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole!!!

No, but Romeo did.

I said I'd 'phoned the Priory, but that there was no way I could afford that.

He said he'd been to some place in (I think it was) High Wycome, but I've never been offered that. He said you could do a 7 day detox at home, or a 14 day one at hospital. The former sounded infinately preferably.

I did like his honesty (he said he'd been in prison for 5 years, been out for 3, and was now helping people in prison/doing AA helpline 1 night a week). But the fact that he's not working and has a brand new Volvo makes me mighty suspicious of what else is going on.

hmmmmm

priory do take some NHS patients

i think you might need to pursue some form of in patient help if after 2 years of treatment, you feel you are no better

not really my forte , so if i am talking crap, i do apologise, but surely, the fact you want to stop drinking, and you are aware you are drinking too much is good

there is a dependant drinkers thread around here somewhere
