I do sometimes, but I never read all the posts and then probably sound off topic! Just wondered how these long threads keep going ;)

rarely, because I'm not patient enough to read them all and usually most of what I would have said has been said already. Also becoming a bit of a thread killer, so hope I don't do that to yours!

I think that these very long threads can be quite boring to read, and tricky to keep track of the conversations, if you haven't been in on them from fairly early on. So I don't generally bother with very long ones, either. Unless the title really grabs ms, in which case I'll read the OP, and maybe skim the rest - until I lose track and die of boredom.
