You need to pit a baton on it before you hang it to give it some rigidity You can get them in craft shops or a flat piece of wood from builders merchant would do Then attach a string to the wood and hang it

You could try using spray which stiffens the fabric, I know someone who made fabric roller blinds and used this. Think John Lewis haberdashery would sell it. That might work?

Is there any way of adding a backing to the front section to stiffen it up?

I have something similar, black cotton backing, with colourful squares on the front.

I put a bamboo cane thru the top, and hung it from two hooks, that the bamboo sits on (sticks out slightly at both sides)i was lucky that it had a big enough seam.

it stuck out a bit at the bottom to start with but settled down.

Can't you get little weights or something that you can sew into the bottom ?

if its all sealed you can still do the cane thing, with the d rings??

the baton thing is like a rod.
