Apparently I can't do it because I don't weigh enough. I'm distraught, obviously! . Seriously, though, well done to you and anyone else who gives blood - absolutely vital.

I would, but not allowed because I had malaria as a child

mumzarello · 21/06/2007 15:37

I'd love to but am not allowed.

Did you know you can't give blood if you have had a blood transfusion (since 1980) - talk about rejecting those most likely to donate..... Absolute madness

I can't because I've had sex with people (well persons as there were one or two before DH came on the scene ) from a country where HIV/AIDS is prevelent.....even 3 negative HIV tests (during the booking in bloods for each pg) don't change that.

I used to a quite a bitbut can't now as no one who has lived in the UK for more than 12 months between late 80s to 90s can give blood in Australia.

And I've had a blood transfusion

well done for starting the thread though

I'm another ex-regular donor who can't give anymore - I had a blood transfusion when I had dd, and I also take thyroxine, which I was surprised to find is a banned substance for blood donors.

oooo is it really WWB? That's a shame

After my first em Caesar with ds1 I churlishly refused a transfusion. On his rounds thenext morning the consultant patted my leg and told me I was quite right as one really had no idea at all what could have been in it . No time for arguements with ds2 as I lost 1.5l on the operating table.

I 'm such a bleeder.

god i really must

cannot right now (pg) but will commit to doing it asap

(can you do it while bfing?)

I can't.

Report
Katymac · 24/06/2007 15:50

They won't have mine either

As they don't know what causes ME they can't screen for it so they don't want mine - I used to give regularily

I had 3 pints of blood when I had the ectopic - but that wasn't really by choice

DH can't because of all his asthma medications

SO we are quite useless really

I keep trying to but the hours of the donation bus are so limited I haven't been able to manage the last couple of times, I have given up one job so should be able to mangage the next rotation.
