Ok so dd2 and I sitting in the living room and hear loud crash from upstairs........

.........followed by a cascade of feathers into the garden! On investigation there is a bloody great pigeon prostrate in the garden against the fence! Daft sod had flown into the bedroom window. It has now recovered enough to be hopping about but it obviously can't fly - what the hell do I do with it now?
DD2 kept asking if it was dead, or will it die Mummy? Now she's gone to bed but every other sentence was 'is the pigeon still there Mummy'. DD1 now home and wants me to DO something Mummy!!!!!

Poor pigeon! Maybe call the RSPB or RSPCA? If the pigeon has hurt its wing they might collect it, either heal or deal with humanely (sp?)

Pigeons seem to have amazing powers of recovery. Next door's cat got one in the back garden and the poor thing looked done for. It lay on the patio with my 2 cats patrolling the living room window sill desperate to get out there and finish the job then after about half an hour it suddenly perked up and flew off.

Cats were v unimpressed but I was amazed! Give it a bit longer and it may just fly off.

we used to get lot of birds stun themselves by flying into our really big windows - have you got a quiet utility room or somewhere yo can put it maybe overnight - will prob be fine in a few hours. we did that loads with various bird and they were always perched up on the airer by orning (leave some water and bread bits in there too)

Have a bit of kindness,call the RSPCA if it is hurt,it may have been stunned but if it is still there is probably hurt.

Similar thing happened to us. Don gloves, put stoopid bird in box (with lid) and take it to the vet. We didn't have to pay or anything, and it was a little adventure for the kids

Well its sort of hopping around the garden - I tried to get to it before but it justs keeps scuttling off - is obviously scared poor thing . However, have to admit it's a bit big (and I'm a wuss!!). May have to leave it til DH comes home to try and catch but don't want to hurt it any more. Did the putting it in a box thing with a blackbird that did the same a few months ago. We'd not long moved in and the neighbours were treated to the spectacle of me in a pair of marigolds chasing a blackbird hopping around the front garden . Strangely enough not all of them speak to me!!!

No not holding wings out. No obvious sticky out bits just looks like its having a sit down!!

If it is still there in an hour i would put it in a box and drop it at the vets in the morning.
