Mill Hill East under the 'Northern Heights Amendment 1939'.

Beat that, suckas!

Oh, a bold opening move. I wouldn't want to be too predictable, so I'll go against the precedent set at the 1975 Convention and go for Goodge Street.

Which (as you know) sends us out of London, like it or not, so let's see what Abertillery is like at this dismal time of the year.

Early use of the closed lines rule to get us to Cheltenham Spa.

Interesting use of the Bakerloo line as an opening move. Not seen by me for several years.

So glad to see this thread - I was on the verge of breaking out the Advocaat out of sheer boredom.

I'm going backwards in reverse movement allowed under the homonym rule to Made of Ale.

I'm assuming that we are invoking the Lenten Prohibitation on double province moves so I'll take us to

Parsons Green.

Report
ForalltheSaints · 11/02/2018 16:13

I am not sure about Lenten Prohibitions before Ash Wednesday (February 14th this year). I have never been that keen on Parsons Green ever since the dizzy spell I had there a few years ago on the way to Craven Cottage.

To enjoy river views I shall move to Putney Bridge

Holborn.

NotCornflakes · 11/02/2018 16:22

Holborn, eh? Now it's game time. I'll go to Barking under rule 17 of the Dean Amendment (the later one, not the original hodgepodge version).

Now you're talking. Piccadilly Circus.

Game on! I’m impressed you’d choose somewhere on the Piccadilly line on the Sabbath. Bold but I’ll play it safe

That's a very nasty place, especially in days like these when Drippings are negative. The only way is Battle.

I'd completely forgotten it was the Sabbath! Shock Paddock Wood.

Report
ForalltheSaints · 11/02/2018 20:19

On the Sabbath the engineering works rule has been played, which is no surprise. I thought the drippings had gone into positive myself, so it is probably a good thing I have avoided the gin today and plan to be abstemious for Lent.

Up the line towards London I go and stop at Lewisham

In that case the only possible move to prevent contravention of the Colly Variant 1583 is Stanmore

Report
Efferlunt · 11/02/2018 21:05

Tricky to get out of Stanmore without reverse nidd, but assuming wind is in SW then.....russel square.

Report
NotCornflakes · 11/02/2018 21:24

And the south-westerly wind blows me all the way to Star Lane.

Report
PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 11/02/2018 21:47

Ooh, tricky. I might have to risk Morden.

Report
IrenetheQuaint · 12/02/2018 08:41

Hmm. I'm going to take a risk and try a Watkins' manoeuvre to Chiswick Park...

Watkins' manoeuvre? Very daring! Imperial Wharf.

Good to see that the new game has brought Irene out of semi-retirement and ::adjusts pince-nez:: enticed a few new players to join us, although some of those moves are redolent of the play at the Walberswick Convention of '73, so perhaps we have met before.

I'm going to dust off one of my favourite moves. A lomgitudinal Kepple to

Aldgate East.

I thought the Watkins manoeuvre was frowned upon since March 1999 and the...well we don’t need to go into that now.
