Arghhhh!!!

So sorry if this is in the wrong place but I just couldn't find anywhere that fell under this predicament. (Somewhat light-hearted)

So my OH (28yo) is from Texas, currently living there and myself (26yo) here in the UK. I want nothing more than to be with this man for the rest of my life and he wants to come over here to be with me/my family and begin our own.

Now why is it so damn hard to achieve this?? The different types of visas available are mostly unsuitable for instance-
*He is college educated so couldn't get a student visa and study
*He doesn't fall into the jobs that are allowed to come here on a work visa and nor does he fall under any jobs that we lack the people in the UK to fill.
*We can't afford to begin a business so can't come on an entrepreneur visa

I'm going to have to marry him aren't I?!
I just had this idea of him coming here to work for a few years, extending the visa, me marrying him, him becoming a UK citizen and having the most beautiful curly haired babies with strange morphed accents (he has the curliest most beautiful hair for reference)

Why is nothing ever straight forward? Does anyone have any experience in this who can give me a light at the end of the tunnel talk? Or who can just hold my hand, give me a giant glass of wine and listen to my ranting!

Even if you marry him I think you’ll still have to earn a certain amount per year or have a good whack of savings.
