Tips for selling on eBay

Have a lot of stuff to get rid of but am new to eBay. Does anyone have any tips for making a success of it? E.g is it better for auctions to end at the weekend? For clothing should I start low and hope for an increase or list at the price I want? I have no clue, any help much appreciated
