It's a beautiful morning here, and I'm looking forward to it! How's your morning shaping up?

mammyoftwo Sun 07-May-17 08:45:03

Unusually for us, our morning is going smoother than normal!....

GoldenWondering Sun 07-May-17 08:47:22

Yes, I will be going to church. As always I am tearful and distressed at the thought of it.

Millybingbong Sun 07-May-17 08:47:50

We are!
Just been having a lovely time baking for church lunch and covering hymn books while Dh practises the hymns (piano)

Perfection has stalled as I have just sliced half my finger off helping DD with a craft activity. So he is doing kids breakfast while I lie here groaning!!

What a strange thread for me to see as I was just thinking we should go to Church today. We are usually a Christmas and Easter onl type family blush

I might take this as a sign we should go smile

MyCalmX Sun 07-May-17 08:51:01

Only that should say

mammyoftwo Sun 07-May-17 08:51:15

Is it the getting ready or being there that causes you to feel like that golden? flowers

annandale Sun 07-May-17 08:52:02

Golden flowers

I hate that you are still in this situation. If I prayed I would pray that you could be freed from it.

I'm going to a cricket match with ds - thick coat, thick socks, gloves; hat, suncream; umbrella, raincoat; newspapers, snacks.

GoldenWondering Sun 07-May-17 08:52:05

It's being there. I hate it.

mammyoftwo Sun 07-May-17 08:52:40

perfect day for it mycalm! let us know how you get on if you go smile

GivenupontheGarden Sun 07-May-17 08:53:21

Yes going to church here.

mailfuckoff Sun 07-May-17 08:56:42

Weather Gray and miserable here. Should be taking dc to church but I'm feeling very unwell so dh will take them to children's church while I stay at home. Will be going to adult baptism classes later though

Chocolou Sun 07-May-17 08:58:42

Why are you going then golden?

missy111 Sun 07-May-17 08:59:51

My DH and DS are going. I'm nursing a broken collar bone and broken ribs so staying on the sofa!!!

Blossomdeary Sun 07-May-17 09:00:38

GoldenWondering - why do you go if you hate it? I am very puzzled indeed.

Just do not go. Simple.

If you believe in god and feel you should be doing something about that, then say a private prayer and get out and about into a green space and delight in it all.

Do you feel guilty if you do not go? - that is sad and a big big waste of life.

ShelaghTurner Sun 07-May-17 09:01:46

Yes just leaving. DD1 is serving which means she gets to do jobs and surreptitiously chat to her friend, forgetting that everyone can see her hmmgrin

mammyoftwo Sun 07-May-17 09:03:25

spoke to soon! toddler tantrum now in full swing.

och no miss flowers

anyone you can go with/anywhere different you could go golden?

GoldenWondering Sun 07-May-17 09:08:25

My family make me go. I don't believe in any of it.

Amethyst975 Sun 07-May-17 09:09:53

Golden So sorry to hear that. DH and I are struggling massively with church at the moment. Church rather than faith but it's still difficult. I've been going to another, completely different church for a while and it's been really refreshing. flowers

Madhairday Sun 07-May-17 09:11:31

I'd usually be there but laid up with a chest infection. Dh and the DC will be there (dh vicar so kind of has to be...)

Golden that sounds awful for you. What do you mean, they force you? Can you not say no? flowers

Unihorn Sun 07-May-17 09:14:25

I was also thinking yesterday about returning to church. We got married 18 months ago and attendee a lovely church but then moved out of the area and I have no idea where is "good" here. I would like to start taking my daughter as well. How have other people found new churches when moving..? I have been contemplating religion a lot the past few days so this thread is very apt for me right now.

EveningShadows Sun 07-May-17 09:17:03

Golden, that seems a very sad family dynamic - I'm guessing you're an adult so it seems v wrong that you're being forced to attend church confused

Wineandcoffee Sun 07-May-17 09:17:34

I don't go to Church, but I'm off to my Quaker meeting shortly. I've been going for about 18 months and feel that I've found my spiritual home.

Wineandcoffee Sun 07-May-17 09:19:13

Golden it is sad to read that you feel forced to attend something that means nothing to you. I hope there is a positive resolution for you soon.

mailfuckoff Sun 07-May-17 09:19:45

Unicorn, feel free just to drop into local churches, each one is different and they don't mind you popping along to see what it's like!
