It's a beautiful morning here, and I'm looking forward to it! How's your morning shaping up?

We are!
Just been having a lovely time baking for church lunch and covering hymn books while Dh practises the hymns (piano)

Perfection has stalled as I have just sliced half my finger off helping DD with a craft activity. So he is doing kids breakfast while I lie here groaning!!

What a strange thread for me to see as I was just thinking we should go to Church today. We are usually a Christmas and Easter onl type family Blush

I might take this as a sign we should go Smile

Is it the getting ready or being there that causes you to feel like that golden? Flowers

Golden Flowers

I hate that you are still in this situation. If I prayed I would pray that you could be freed from it.

I'm going to a cricket match with ds - thick coat, thick socks, gloves; hat, suncream; umbrella, raincoat; newspapers, snacks.

Weather Gray and miserable here. Should be taking dc to church but I'm feeling very unwell so dh will take them to children's church while I stay at home. Will be going to adult baptism classes later though

GoldenWondering - why do you go if you hate it? I am very puzzled indeed.

Just do not go. Simple.

If you believe in god and feel you should be doing something about that, then say a private prayer and get out and about into a green space and delight in it all.

Do you feel guilty if you do not go? - that is sad and a big big waste of life.

Yes just leaving. DD1 is serving which means she gets to do jobs and surreptitiously chat to her friend, forgetting that everyone can see her HmmGrin

Golden So sorry to hear that. DH and I are struggling massively with church at the moment. Church rather than faith but it's still difficult. I've been going to another, completely different church for a while and it's been really refreshing. Flowers

I'd usually be there but laid up with a chest infection. Dh and the DC will be there (dh vicar so kind of has to be...)

Golden that sounds awful for you. What do you mean, they force you? Can you not say no? Flowers

I was also thinking yesterday about returning to church. We got married 18 months ago and attendee a lovely church but then moved out of the area and I have no idea where is "good" here. I would like to start taking my daughter as well. How have other people found new churches when moving..? I have been contemplating religion a lot the past few days so this thread is very apt for me right now.

Golden, that seems a very sad family dynamic - I'm guessing you're an adult so it seems v wrong that you're being forced to attend church Confused

I don't go to Church, but I'm off to my Quaker meeting shortly. I've been going for about 18 months and feel that I've found my spiritual home.

Golden it is sad to read that you feel forced to attend something that means nothing to you. I hope there is a positive resolution for you soon.

Unicorn, feel free just to drop into local churches, each one is different and they don't mind you popping along to see what it's like!

I may well do that, sounds lovely doing a tour of churches!

Wineandcoffee what got you involved with the Quakers initially? I've been looking into them a lot lately but church for me has to be full of songs and readings, so even though I feel my beliefs may be more in line with Quakers I do enjoy the tradition of the Anglican church.
