2) Why can't I find the version of this with Treville in too? <kicks own filing system> LetUs...?

<returns, having actually RTpreviousFT>
<wears HazMat suit>
<dispenses TCP for gargling>
<squidges illing wenches>
<lines up drinks on the bar>

sad at the tissue in the wash - I'm forever forgetting to check pockets and fishing the debris from DS's pockets out of the rubber seal - plus the tedium of shredded tissues.
And LOL at LetUs having posted the pictire I was looking for without actually me realising (idiot me)
Tonight I AM having an early night.....

Do you think threre's some genetic trait that the men in your life get progressively handier with age? (DIY-speaking) DH is pretty good at stuff, DF is very handy, and DGF was shit-hot at fixing stuff up. DH and our (male) neighbour once had a mutual sympathy session about the ability of their FILs to make them feel utterly inadequate on the DIY front. grin

MadamedeChevreuse Tue 10-Jan-17 20:44:42

Tbh helen I think it's more that as a species we are progressively deskilling as time goes on and technology makes us more and more useless and dependent on it.

<cheery thought for the day>

grin

Hello everyone! Lovely new thread helen.

Badders123 Tue 10-Jan-17 20:56:19

My dad was an engineer (he apprenticed as a welder)
Dh is an engineer
Dh is now office based and has been for a long long time
Dad always had whatever we needed in the back of his van somehow 😀
Blimey, I miss the old coot ❤
I'm watching parks and rec again
Not sure what to think of Sherlock tbh
I'm so over Martin freeman in anything 😕
Oh! I had a dream I killed Kate humble last night!!! 😳

WickedWenchOfTheNorth Tue 10-Jan-17 21:12:35

I think I'm quite handy, I have my own toolbox, it's red and black, very pretty. Today I found the mailbox on the ground but I used my hammer and a nail and fixed it smile

Badders123 Tue 10-Jan-17 21:19:14

My way of doing diy is hitting stuff really hard with a mallet
Amazing how often it works tbh

MadamedeChevreuse Tue 10-Jan-17 21:21:47

Go wicked!

I fixed the toilet at work today <fist pump>

My mum, who was also an engineer, bought me a flowery screwdriver once. Cos ladies need their tools to be pink and pretty obvs. hmm

What is kate humble in? Why do you hate her bads?

Badders123 Tue 10-Jan-17 21:26:43

She is a very irritating tv presenter who makes my fists teeth itch
Every
Single
Thing
She
Says
Or
Does
Fills me with an all encompassing rage
😡😳

WickedWenchOfTheNorth Tue 10-Jan-17 21:30:48

All my tools are very manly mainly cheap crap grin
Did I tell you guys that I got a set of axes for Christmas? I wanted a gift certificate for books hmm

WickedWenchOfTheNorth Tue 10-Jan-17 21:31:29

Yay Madame!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp Tue 10-Jan-17 21:47:40

I love DIY. DH was shock when we combined house contents and he found that my drill was bigger than his grin the angle grinder is mine too grin

DM had a hairy fit when DF and I combined on the phone to work out how I could wire in a new extractor fan that could be turned off to let me have a nice peaceful bath. It was a wonderful conversation along the lines of "Well if I take the red wire out and put it here... and if I move the yellow... etc etc" With my DM effectively going "la-la-la not listening - just tell me when you've done it." in the background.

LetUsPrey Tue 10-Jan-17 22:09:44

When I bought my first house, my DDad bought me a toolbox and a set of tools. Believe me, this was very unusual thinking for my dad back then grin

I'm a dab hand with flat pack furniture. DH is very handy with DIY.

grin at Badderz's dream. <high fives Madame>

Watching NCIS with DS1. Gibbs still hot.

LetUsPrey Tue 10-Jan-17 22:11:00

LetUsPrey Tue 10-Jan-17 23:40:50

We know the Tav will always be kept in a good state of repair

Off to the hayloft. Night wenches x

FancyFancy Wed 11-Jan-17 00:24:24

Thank you for the new thread helen & what a beautiful ending to the last one letus grin

I agree with madame on the deskilling of each generation, many of us are more affluent & just 'get a man in' wink
I'm pretty good at flat pack assembly, to the extent of building a shed & also operate a drill. Good job really, with no DH to share the chores!

LetUsPrey Wed 11-Jan-17 08:05:25

Morning wenches. Glad you liked it Fancy <bows>

Is very bloody windy here and I don't like it.

I want to hide in the Tav and spend the day with various HBFs.

FancyFancy Wed 11-Jan-17 08:25:06
