I have had enough of trying to be thin. Or even a bit thinner. I'm not massive but I am bigger than I should be. Its just too hard to lose weight. And I'm getting older - 41. And DH doesn't give a damn (God love him) Who has accepted their bodies, embraced their chubster self and stuck two fingers up at the world of thin? Come on women give some support to my fatty selfSmileWink

Me :)

I'm 6kg overweight according to the NHS and 12kg according to me. I'm a high-street size 18/20 with a ridiculous belly. It's okay.

Skinny wrinkles more than fat!

Ha I'll remember that Garlic! I am a size 14, I don't know I just can't summon up the energy to care too much anymore!

Me, really.

I'm about a stone overweight, and have been for years.

I can wear clothes from mainstream shops, look nice enough and have lots of lovely sex.

DP thinks I'm gorgeous (I'm not, but that's not the point).

I would like to be thinner, especially when it comes to summer time, but do I want to be thinner more than I want to eat lots of lovely food and drink lots of lovely wine and just generally chill out?

Not really, no.

Thing is, my mum has dieted all her adult life.

She's still at it in her seventies.

No thanks.

I'm getting there, just can't be arsed to diet! I exercise, but not enough to lose weight, just to vaguely maintain. Am a size 14 and would love to be a willowy size 8 in a Gwyneth Paltrow stylie but I lack the discipline to get there!

As a PP said, sometime I'd like to be skinny but I just want to eat nice food and chill out more.

I'm tall and v good at dressing to suit my body type and that will have to do! Grin

Ive tried Slimming World. Ive tried MFP. I gave a 4yo and an 18mo and am still "carrying the babyweight" pah!!

A friend said the other day I was looking slimmer and I said the only time ill be skinny again is when im dead (I did it with a grin I wasnt being morbid!)

Im 5'2 and 12stone and size 14. I loose weight it goes firstly from my face which is great and thats when I stop haha. Then it goes from my boobs which I hate. Ive been 8stone with massive calves and upper arms. I now convince myself at least im in proportion.

So many celebrities who bang on about healthy lifestyles being important, smoke. When I smoked I barely had an appetite and was stick thin as a result. Even though I'm heavier now, I'm healthier.

I am 5ft 7 and 12.5 stone so I know I'm overweight but I really don't care. I was always a size 8-10 pre children and afterwards I just stayed where I am now. I think if my weight was creeping up then for health reasons alone I would be worried but vanity wise I really don't think about my weight at all. I'm a size 16 and quite comfortable with myself. I feel like I'm the fittest I've ever been, I don't deprive myself of anything I want to eat and my dh is very happy with me as I am :) what's not to like? Grin

I feel better reading all your replies! Yvaine I know what you mean about the summer, we have a week booked in Crete which I''m sort of worried about, due to the sweating Blush however DH is far better travelled than me and assures me there will be loads of large people there so not to worry!
feeling dizzy, yes I was put on a diet aged 12, messed me up really, so im working on trying to like myself a bit more.
Out2pasture I love healthy food! I sometimes wonder if I just have an abnormally big appetite.....
Thanks for all your replies Smile

Don't worry, I'm a size 18/20 and went on holiday for the first time on years, last year. I was worried about looking fat in my swimming costume, I needn't have worried, some women lots bigger than me were in bikinis and they didn't care and didn't look worried so I certainly didn't!

I'm also getting to the point where I just can't be bothered, this is me and if you don't like it... I like food and definitely don't want to spend the rest of my life dieting and depriving myself of nice things to eat and drink.

i've given up trying to get back into my size 12s
I have a BMI of 25.5, so technically only just overweight. But I have a narrow frame and so look best with a BMI of about 21-22.
Problem is it's quite hard work maintaining that now I'm nearly 40, and I can't be arsed.

Me! I'm about 20lbs over my "perfect" weight. It's all on my belly and thighs as well. I don't eat excessively ( I used to ) and have always struggled with my weight. In order for me to be a size 10/12 I have to really restrict my diet - and I just don't care enough anymore. I used to be a size 20 when I was a teen so I'm happy enough being a 16 now Smile

I have several friends who all do slimming world and this and that and they have lots loads of weight and good luck to them if that's what they want to do but personally I have no desire to have to follow any plan whatsoever. If I fancy a pancake or a cake or whatever then I don't want to have to worry if it's in a plan / how many calories or whatever else. It's just a miserable and restrictive existence.

Me! I'm only just within the healthy BMI for my height and a stone heavier than I was this time last year. My belly overhangs and I'm getting a double chin. I've done calorie counting and WW on and off for the last 3 years, but as soon as I lose a bit of a weight I get really bored with the restrictive diet, I get fed up with planning food, weighing food, counting food. I bloody love food so I just want to enjoy it! So I've decided I'm going to shove whatever I like in my gob and not worry about what size label is on my dress. Life's too short to weigh out 30g of cardboard flakes every morning.

Yep, I decided last year that, as long as I was healthy and active and eating a decent diet, I wasn't going to give a fuck about my weight. I'm a 14/16, would like to be willowy but realistically it's never going to happen, so why make myself miserable about it?

Would now be a good time to mention that I've just eaten a bar of Green and Black's Salted Caramel?

It's Witch Week, so I needed it.

I don't do it all the time, so...meh. It was lovely.

You know that's just what I was thinking the other day. Whilst eating DH'S Hazelnut Milka bar.

It's bloody hard work losing weight, especially in winter. Eating salads and veg does get boring. I am literally bound to 1500 cals per day if I don't want to gain weight.

Its so boring. What's a treat? A tiny spot of chocolate? A small glass of wine?

Sometimes I think fuck it I'll just eat choc bars as a mid morning snack instead of cottage cheese and an apple or whatever. Nearly the same calorie content but far more satisfying!

My clothes still fit. I'm a bit pudgy though.

I am honestly never going to be willowy. Ever. Even at my lightest my upper arms still had substantial chunk to them.

And I'm only 5'5' so its not achievable anyway.

Report
YvaineStormhold · 13/04/2016 20:17

Boring is the word.

Just thinking about food, noting it down, counting calories, thinking can I have this? Can I have that? And still being more or less the same size - or the minute you dare to relax, it all piles on again.

Life is far too short.
