Advice on where to move in North London

Hello

I currently live in a very outer zone on the East side of London and am trying to work out where to move and would love any thoughts after spending a bazillion hours on Google Maps and Rightmove.

I am a single mum with a 3 yr old so want to get settled in place where she will go to primary and hopefully stay long-term.

I need to reduce my commute to work which currently takes an hour. I'm in Covent Garden - so Holborn, Leicester Sq and Cov Gdn tubes all work.

I need to be able to access current location for my ExP contact with our DC.

I would absolutely love to be a bit closer to Paddington/West as all my family and best friends are in the South West and my parents will come to stay to help.

I can't really afford more than £1300. So I've been wondering about Golders Green, East Finchley, Wood Green. Maybe Barnet but long commute? Would love Maida Vale but probably too ££

Any ideas welcome. Thank you!

I used to live in Bowes park. But mixed but near train & tube. Very strong sense of community there. Miss it.

I'd recommend Kensal Green or Willesden Green - Kensal Green is on the Bakerloo line, has good schools and is close to Queens Park (which is nice but more expensive). There's a good community feel and it's quiet at nighttime.

You can get the 18 bus too if the tube isn't working, which goes to Euston via Paddington.

I live in East Finchley!
Absolutely love it here.
I need to move to a bigger property but don't want to leave the area.

It's such a lovely small village feel here but the transport connections for the city are excellent.

Highly recommend it!

Noel Park between Turnpike Lane and Wood Green tube has lovely houses - red brick Victorian terraces. 20 mins into Covent Garden.

East Finchley! Great schools, lots of green spaces, nice community feeling and 20 mins to Leicester Square.

That right move flat looks nice but is not near a tube. Bowes park/ bounds green would be nearer tube and overground.
Agree East Finchley is lovely, but maybe a bit more expensive? Noel Park is a stop or 2 nearer central London, has some nice housing but area not so nice, although near lots of shops and very multicultural.

The rightmove flat looked lovely but the primary school it's in catchment for was not good unfortunately. I'm wondering about getting a 1 bed so I can be in a good location. Don't mind sharing bedroom for now but would mean parents on sofa when they come and stay which might be a bit much.
