I need some perspective on whether it is going ok or if I should give up now...
I think I have had 6 lessons and have no previous driving experience - we're driving places but I just feel so stupid the whole time. Every lesson includes at least 1 mistake that requires instructor intervention either with steering or because I did something wrong.
I'm used to being able to do stuff and this is making me feel like an incompetent idiot.
it can take 30-40 hours of lessons to get good enough, plus it's harder the older you get too.
if you're really struggling, and you think it is a co-ordination thing, consider automatic: My friend struggled for two years ignoring my advice - he finally went over to automatic, he sailed through! he found, because he had fewer things to concentrate on
Thanks! It's very hard to know if you are a totally hopeless case or not! Gears are fine I think. My brain is just a bit slow.
My instructor seems alright but I guess trying someone else for a lesson wouldn't hurt.
Tbh I think I'm just used to being a successful-ish human being and usually pick things up pretty quickly in normal life....and this has thrown me in to a world of hideous pain. Which I probably can cope with if that's normal....
