Leybourne Chase Development in West Malling

Help! I am a Mum of 2 currently living in a London property. We are paying ridiculously high rent and have basically been priced out of London. I have family in Kent and we decided to move that way. We have recently reserved a property on the Leybourne-chase development in West Malling. At first I felt really excited but I am beginning to feel increasingly worried. It's a new build property (part of help to buy scheme) and I have been reading lots of horror stories about new build homes. We are in our late 30s and need to do this now but am scared we are rushing into it. Could really use some advice/info from anyone living in west malling.... What's the area like? I'm clutching at straws here but does anyone know anything about the Leybourne-chase development? Or even better live there? How about Taylor Wimpey as developers? We have reserved a property but it's not too late to back out! Any advice or information will be much appreciated :).

Hi, i have also recently moved to leybourne chase. I have a 5 month old daughter. I used to live in london and its quite different here. Taylor wimpey were helpful and friendly. Lots of lovely ppl here. Can do some nice walking.

The only drawback i see at the moment is i dont drive and hence either depend on my husband or the taxi.

Hi there, Thanks for your response :). It's reassuring to hear that there are nice people living at Leybourne chase and that Taylor Wimpey were helpful and friendly. I'm actually feeling much more positive about it all now. Like you I don't drive which has been worrying me a bit. Am going to try to get myself on an intensive driving course before we move.

Hi Ladies,

I am interested to hear how you are both getting on at Leybourne Chase. I am in the very early stages of purchasing a property at the Leybourne Chase development. My concern is that I work in London and have no family or friends in Kent and I worry that the bus stop is too long a walk for my son who would need to (according to Google maps) walk 31misn to the nearest bus stop. I have since found another property in King's Hill which is swaying me as it is only a 5min walk to the bus stop. Any advice you are able to give will be greatly appreciated! :-)

Hi everyone. I have also just reserved a house on this development and moving from London. Would love feedback and to hear from the people already there. What plots have you all got? Look forward to hearing from you X

Hi ladies,

So just to update. We moved into our new house in December and couldn't be happier :).

It was a massive upheaval but I have to say I don't regret it at all! My little one attends the pre school at Leybourne Chase and has made of lots of lovely little friends. There are so many other families here and everyone is friendly and welcoming. So many people seem to have moved from London too so you won't be alone there!

I was working in Central London and all my friends are still in London. I was worried about feeling isolated but If anything I see friends more now as we make an effort, they come and visit and stay for the weekend and vice versa. It's also easy to get back to London by train. I often meet friends in Bromley South now as it's half way for us all. People are so friendly and often in the same boat, I'm sure you will soon make new friends too :).

I don't drive which is my only real struggle. I would say you really do need to drive to get around. I'm having lessons now and once I pass my test I will be a happy bunny :).

How old is your son Zainab R? My 15 year old daughter has struggled a bit with the commute. She doesn't attend a local school though as she is at the Brit School so has to travel a long way each day. There is talk of a bus service coming to Leybourne Chase which would be amazing.... I don't think it will be anytime soon though unfortunately.

Anyway my names Katherine by the way and I live on Charlotte Way. Plot Number 348. Hopefully I'll meet you ladies some day! I've recently set up a facebook group for Leybourne Chase Mums & Dads. Do feel free to join :). X

Hi ladies. We have also just reserved a house on Leybourne chase and we have been so excited. However, I joined the fb page and the recent discussion is about the estate being haunted and this really does scare me! Have you experienced anything? Xx

Hello Ladies

We are looking to reserve a plot in Leybourne Chase and little concerned about secondary school options as my daughter will start secondary in 2018.
Could you please let me know what are the options available nearby. The malling secondary is the nearest from the Estate but don't know how is it? Does this Estate comes under any Grammar school
Cachement?

Many thanks

Hi Ladies,

I am thinking of moving my family from Sidcup to the Leybourne Chase development. I don't know the area at all. Could anyone advise where the local supermarket is, what the school is like on the development as I will be looking at putting my 4 and 8 year old in there and generally what it's like to live at the development?

Thank you
Maxine
